Why people don’t lose weight – A few common mistakes
Eating Cereal For Breakfast – Don't get fooled by the hype, most cereals are very high in sugar and not a good breakfast choice for healthy living or for losing weight.
Did you know the research on fibre which all cereals base their health claims on was actually conducted on vegetable fibre not grained fibre - cheeky.
Eating Before Gym – Do have a reasonably sized meal a couple of hours or so before heading to the gym so you have sufficient energy for your workout.
Do not make the common mistake of having sweets or chocolate before working out "for energy" or assuming you will simply burn it off, as this will inhibit the ability of your body to burn fat while exercising.
In fact while we are on topic, Avoid sports drinks in the gym; you don't need them. Sports drinks can only be excused if you are exercising for bouts lasting over an hour, any less and you're simply taking unnecessary calories on board.
Carbs For Dinner – You simply do not need to consume carbohydrates at night. All that will happen is that the carbohydrate will be stored as fat because you aren't using it for exercise fuel. Stick to meat and vegetables of an evening.
Sauces – A lot of people don't realise just how much sugar (and often salt) is packed into some common meal sauces – make your own using plenty of natural, health-promoting herbs and ingredients to add some flavour to your cooking.

fieldmouse 397 days ago@weebra Try some oatmeal, preferably not the instant kind. Making your own takes 5-10 minutes and is a great way to incorporate fruit and protein-high foods like almonds into your breakfast. -
CamAudio 393 days agoThanks for the info! Great blog. I do have a question though: What are good foods to eat before exercising for energy? I usually need to eat something when I go for long bike rides. -
