Anyone know what happens after a womens size 6 and size 4 are too big? There arent very many size 4 jeans and size 6 are starting to swim on me......I started out at size 24 so forgive me not knowing these sizes. I get so frustrated trying on jeans......my legs are still pretty heavy so the skinny jeans dont fit. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?.
I hate shopping so I don't buy a lot of clothes but maybe try the junior section?? My 15-year old daughter wears a size 2 and she doesn't have problems finding clothes..
And Starlight is right, try different brands. I'm typically a size 4 but my Levi's are a size 6 (and they are kinda tight!). Another pair of jeans I have run big and I actually fit a size 2..
Great job, all yout hard work is paying off! As far as sizes, You can try a size two next. That is what I wear at my goal weight. But you can actually go down to a double 0. Even sizes are misses sizes and odd numbers are juniors so if a size 2 gets too roomy you should try the juniors section. The juniors are cut thinner in the thighs and usually have a lower rise. The fit maybe be better if you don't carry much weight in your thighs. ( I do, so in juniors I need to go up to a 5 when I am wearing a 2 in misses.) Hope that helps and again, GREAT JOB!!!!.
I agree on trying different brand and sizes. When I reached goal last year (had health issue and gained it back.
) I was a size six. But in several jeans I could wear a size 4 or 8 depending. I really wish they would standardize sizes. It would make life so much easier. I would also try many different fits as well..
If you switch over to junior sizing you will find there are plenty of things to choose from. I wear a size 2 or 4 regular and a 5 or 7 junior. Junior clothing is cut considerably smaller..
Wow! I have never been in a size 4 or less and I now weigh 126. I hope to lose like 6 more lbs. to see if I can get into a 6 comfortably. I would love to stay at a 6 but 8 is ok too. I am also very short too so hoping one day to wear a 6..
You may have problems with the Junior sizes though... since they are made for teens I find they have very skinny legs AND very small inseam! So they barely come half way up my hips..
The trick is to try every brand out there... Old Navy runs small (I'm in a 6 in theirs and I am NOT a 6), Target brands run small. Maybe consignment stores could help too since the new size 4 is the old size 6 you may have more choices there with 'older' styles..
That is so awesome! Not sure how tall you are, but Juniors do run a little short. My daughter is 5'6', athletic with muscled thighs and a tiny waist and has to have the long inseam, and it's very difficult to find talls in sizes smaller than a 4. Jeans shopping takes lots of patience because you have to try on everything and be willing to walk away from brands that don't fit. We've had success with the pricier brands like Lucky and also the brands in the Buckle store at the mall..
Congratulations on your success! Thanks for sharing. Stories and questions like yours remind me that there are people like you who are in the same battle and are winning!.
I just recently found that GAP has a great selection of pants/jeans and the 6 was too big for me so I got the size 4. Fit perfect. Give it a try! I also find a lot of things work for me in juniors....just have to play around with the different sizes and see which one works for you..
I agree with shopping in the junior dept. I am in 6's and 4's, many stores carry very few of these sizes. I like Maurice's for jeans and I buy junior jeans (I wear a 7 in Juniors). Love Grace, Silver (these are waist and length sized) and even some of the Maurice's brands. If I am looking for dress clothes I find there is much more selection for 4's and 6's on-line. It is a good problem to have but I live in a small town and if can be pretty frustrating to run into the store to grab something for an occassion and the store does not have my size..
That being said, I agree with the other posters, just try out all different brands, as different brands fit differently. Heck, I even have some of the SAME BRANDS in my closet in different sizes that fit. I have APT 9 dress pants from Kohls as well as New York and Company dress pants in the same style in 14s and 12s and they both fit for some reason. Strange!.
I don't know if you have an Ann Taylor Loft where you live, but if you do, and since said you are thigh-heavy, you could try their curvy cut size 2. They may work for you..
I don't think you will have a problem finding that size, either..
Thanks so much for all the responses here. I was almost scared to post my question in fear of some haters......but all were great responses! I must have tried on 50 pairs the other day at 2 different stores.......ended up with one pair, Levi's 529, size 4..
I am very bottom, thigh heavy with a smaller waist........and bigger hips.......ugh. But I had trouble when I was a 24 also! So I guess like most of you said, it's a better problem now!.
Isn't it crazy. I don't care what size you are....jeans shopping is the pits. I had to try on about 50 pairs to find a company that fit me right. And then bought 3 pairs because I was not going through that again. The only problem, companies change their styling, fit, fabrics constantly. So they may fit this year, but next year's style won't..

I should only be so lucky..
Good luck finding jeans..
My daughter is a 1-2 and has a HARD time finding what she likes since her badonkadonk is a little bit bigger than a normal 1-2 size..
