Anyone know what to do if you are breastfeeding? How many calories should I add onto the calories they automatically suggest I eat?

Hey there, I used to nurse. You typically only need to add 300 calories to what they suggest if you'd like to lose weight. Watch for a decrease in milk flow. If you find you are not making enough once working out, then I would suggest adding another 50-100 calories. After you ensure that you are drinking enough water. Not enough water intake will decrease your milk supply as well.

Thanks for the tips regarding the water intake Lace! I'm due in 4 weeks and plan to breast feed and get back to working out as soon as possible so that's something I'll need to focus on.

Escapingjourney, I'm pregnant right now and using SlimKicker to encourage healthy habits. Did you add any cals onto their recommended during your pregnancy?

Baby #3 is 5 weeks old and is exclusively breastfed. I'm aiming for 1600 calories a day (I read you shouldn't go below 1500 to avoid a decrease in milk production), and I'm just going to watch to make sure she's still getting enough.

Lexileven, I was about 200 when I got pregnant with #3. I aimed for 1500 for the first two trimesters and 1800 for the third trimester. I delivered at 205 and came home from the hospital at 190! I did this with my doctor's admission (so you might want to consult with yours). It ended up being my healthiest pregnancy BY FAR. Good luck with everything :)

I stuck with 1800 cals and had no issues with milk production. I was back down to my pre pregnancy weight in three months with my fourth (gained 35, almost 10 of that was baby, and admittedly my pre preg weight is higher than I'd like, hence the reason I'm here). Be very sure your cals are healthy cals because crap cals comprised of sugar-laden coffee drinks (my biggest weakness) will make you hungry quick! Which of course makes it harder to stay within your range.

I'm on 1600 Cal and EBF my 3month old. I read somewhere when you EBF you burn 500 cals in on day. I also add it to my 'exercise'.
