If you do choose to drink it hot first mix it with a very small amount of water to form a paste. You can get most of the lumps out this way. Then gradually add in more water until it's the dilution you want. I also use this method for the cream soups..
I also add a little bit of water to make a thick paste. I use cold water, but it probably doesn't matter. Once I get the paste consistency, I add hot water for a hot drink. I do this with all of the hot drinks and it seems to work fine..
Lyn has suggestions for mixing the products on her blog. I've also done what she indicates and it seems to work..
Stir, stir, stir crushing the lumps on the side of the container for about a minute (by the clock)... like in chemistry class or the time you'd be in line at Starbucks!.
I put hot water from the coffee machine in the cup, then the packet and whisk the heck out of it with a mini whisk. Never have lumps or clumps and get this nifty little froth on top..
I pour in a bit of cold water then stir. It makes a paste with virtually no lumps then I add the rest of the water in two more stages. Keeps even moist lumps out. I then just add a few cubes of ice and I'm good..
Cappuccino is my favorite! This is how I make mine: I put room temperature water in my shaker and add the cappuccino mix. Shake, shake, shake. Then microwave for 1 minute. (or sometimes I drink it cold, esp on hot days like we've had lately).
