I know there is an introductions thing on the 'slimkicker females' subforum but I thought it might be a nice idea to have one here as well - so people can introduce themselves to everyone else on the site :)

I'll start (awkwardly, haha) - my name is Charlie, I'm 23 and I live in Nottingham, England with my 7 pet rats (mostly named after Batman villains). I'm studying to be a personal trainer/nutritionist at the moment and am completely in love with the gym.

My favourite exercises are: squats, leg press, press-ups and sprinting on the stair-master - I love a good dance as well and you can usually catch me grooving away to my music between sets in the gym. I like to listen to Rammstein or Britney Spears while I'm working out - so my dancing varies a bit!

My other hobbies include eating, eating and eating some more. I like to read graphic novels, books about zombies and Men's Health.

Nice to meet you all :) (oh god somebody respond or i'll look like a dork)

Wouldn't want you to look like a dork :).

I'm Daniel, from Fayetteville, NC. I got out of the Air Force in October 2011 due to medical issues, and for the past 4 years those medical issues have made me bitter at myself that I can't do what I used to be able to do.

I make excuses all the time that I can't work out, etc...because of the pain...when in reality I can do more than I let myself think I can...so that's why I'm here...to get off my pity-wagon and lose some weight.

I'm a gamer, cigar/pipe smoker, reader, and newly refound Christian (I'm proud of that one the most).

My wife is a Beachbody Coach, so I'll be trying to workout with her when I can (though some of that is just a little tough for me with my issues).

I swim four days a week and run 10 - 30 miles per week. I'm just trying this out to see if it helps me stay motivated even with slow progress.

Hello! My name is Lanna, I'm 41 and live in the Washington DC Metro area. I'm married to a wonderful, sedentary man who loves to cook homemade meals, so I'm not complaining. We have two school-age children and a parrot.

I work as a graphic designer, but am training to become an aerobics instructor. Dance has always been a hobby of mine since I was a child, and I've been taking group fitness classes since high school, but I've never thought of myself as "fit." I'm taking the plunge now, or I never will.

I'm seeking to be as fit as possible, increase my stamina, and "look the part" of aerobics instructor.

    'Morning everyone!

My name is Benjamin, I'm 21, and I currently live in Minnesota.
I was born and raised near Frankfurt (Germany) and I am finishing up my bachelor's degree in Graphic Communications this year.

Some of my favorite bands include Motörhead, Blind Guardian, and Anthrax; I've been a full-blooded Metalhead for almost a decade now. Conveniently, Heavy Metal works quite well as a workout playlist.

I've always had a love for food and, unsurprisingly, most of the foods I grew up with are near-impossible to find up in Minnesota. I'm still searching for pickled herring, blood sausage, and a REAL bratwurst.

I used to weigh 130 pounds (I was a scrawny fella, even at 5'4''), until I came to the US. I did gain muscle from wrestling in high school, but after about 2 years I weighed about 180 pounds. I managed to get it back down to 170, but at this point I'd really like to lose some more weight and just get into a healthier overall lifestyle.

    Good to meet you all!

Hi! I'm Leslie, I'm 32 and live in beautiful Sonoma County, CA with my firefighter husband and spoiled rotten Boston terrier/beagle mix, Brian. I was very active in high school running cross country and just generally being an outdoors kind of person but broken bones every couple of years up until a broken ankle when I was 24 really took a toll on my activity level.

I work in Land Surveying and was doing field work which helped me maintain my weight but with the falling economy and shifting responsibilities, I've been stuck at my desk for the past 2 years so no help there.

Basically, I'm ready for a change. I know that's cliche but the scale is now looming around the point of no return and I'm sick of feeling the way I do. We've had to move for financial reasons so our temporary living situation has been kind of a motivator to make this year my "year of change" (groan, more cliche).

I'm so glad to have found this site. Everyone here is so supportive, it really helps keep me motivated. I look forward to seeing how far I can take it. Good to "meet" you all!

    Mornin' all!

My name is John, I'm a 43 year old Italian descent living in St. Louis MO with my wife and two kids (8 and 4). I'm a database programmer / DBA, so not much moving around work hours.

I'm into all sorts of things, woodworking (made a cajon most recently), electronics (wired up a piezo pickup and pre-amp to electrify an auto-harp), Theology (Southern Baptist), gardening, eBooks, Dyslexia, hats (mainly Western), starting in metal-detecting (to get me moving). I've taken voice and play around with blues harp and picked up an electric guitar to play around with (built a case for the guitar, spent more time on that than learning chords).

Musically I'm into a bit of everything (except rap and 10-tone scale experimental stuff). Favorites are 80's, REM, The Cars, ZZ Top, Oysterband, Carbon Leaf, and soundtrack scores (Elfman, Williams, etc.)

I've never been exactly trim, but my weight has been on a steady climb for the past 6 years. A few years back I dropped down from 225 to 190 using the weight-watchers point system on a PocketPC. The PocketPC died, and I went back to my old ways. Now I'm topping 235 and don't like it, so it's time to make a change. Diet worked, but bounced me higher when I stopped. I'm implementing exercise and weightlifting with healthy eating to see where that takes me.

Medically, I have sleep apnea and I've had back surgery for a herniated disc, so it's important I loose the weight. I have to be careful about how I lift and what exercises I do with my back, pull-downs are fine, but lifts probably should be reclining I guess. Not sure how to strengthen my back without putting stress on the lumbar. Better start a group, eh?

SlimKicker has a lot of promise, I hope I can be of assistance with my background as a developer in software and interface design. I've been called on often in the past to be a go-between for developers and end users. If we listen to the people and build on this foundation, this thing could be real big!

    Here's to the SlimKicker community!

Hello! I'm Sam and I'm from London. I'm 27 and getting married in September so I want to look as good as I can for that. I've also been overweight all of my adult life so I'm looking at this as a lifestyle change.

I've just started running (doing a half marathon in October) and have found I really enjoy it. I wish I'd listened to people when I was a teenager when they said exercise can be fun - because it is, painful but fun too!

I live with my finance, two housemates and lots of (pet) rats and they are all getting used to seeing me stretching in the living room!

I'm Chloe, 17, from Bath in England, but soon moving to the Netherlands. I live with my mum and 3 brothers, a dog, 2 cats, a rabbit and a hamster.

I'm studying from home, I'm unemployed, so I really don't get out and about much. I enjoy writing, reading, graphic design, living vicariously through the internet and procrastinating. So while my metabolism keeps me thin, I'm really very unhealthy (hence why I'm here!)

I gave some feedback to the idea of the site a long while ago and was emailed this morning to be notified about it having been launched. The design is lovely, and I've found the site very helpful so far.

I get mocked by my family a lot when I try to eat healthy or get fit, so I'm trying to rebuild my confidence ready to continue being healthy when I live with all-new people in July.

Hi everyone. I am Taher from India. Currently, I am in Saudi Arabia, working as a Pediatrician (which is what I am) for the Government of Saudi Arabia. I am 52, exercise regularly, but only walking/jogging, as my small village has no gymnasia or facilities for outdoor activities. No pool either. Have lost about 16 pounds in the last 6 months, and still have a long way to go.

Food is my weakness, my Achilles' heel, as it were, and it prevents me from realising the advantages from regular exercise. My big enemies are diabetes (11 years), metabolic syndrome, a passion for food, and ennui in this place.

I hope SK helps me out in my endeavours.

    Taher

HI everybody! I am Jacqui from Canada. Originally from Nebraska, met my hubby 12 years ago. He was from Toronto, so I moved here. :)

I have a LOT to loose (right now standing at 267.. yikes!). I've been one of "those" who ALWAYS says they are trying to lose weight.. but somehow never make it anywhere. I have recently been diagnosed with an eating disorder, and I am now working on changing my entire perception of food and eating.. and maybe become somewhat normal.. haha!

I have a lot of health issues to deal with because of my weight.. so it's time. My biggest downfalls? Exercise. I hate it. I need to make myself do it. Also, fast food. Evilness it is.. but I just can't seem to say no when I drive by. I have all kinds of justifications for it.. but in the end, it's just not what my body needs!

Hi all! I'm Scott, lived in Colorado for the past ~year. I'm retired Air Force, lived in several places over the past 25 yrs. Born in NC, raised in AL, stationed in South Dakota, Korea, Florida, Saudi Arabia, New Jersey, Mississippi, and New Mexico.

Heavy equipment mechanic for 16 yrs, software developer the past 11 years. Love what I do now, but challenging to stay active while sitting at the desk all day.

Was never interested in exercise, and ate like crap. 3 yrs ago completely changed paths. Started P90X, changed the diet, and now a fitness junkie and loving life! Feel great everyday, rarely sick, energy through the roof. I do various fitness programs, along with running, and cardio equipment.

Make your health/fitness changes something you enjoy. If you don't like it, you won't stick with it. Make it fun. Same with the diet. Don't deprive yourself of what you love. Instead, learn to love better foods.

    JadeLovesVeg Nutritionist
    Hey guys!
I'm Jade, I'm living in London, where I study Nutrition and work as a Healthy Eating Specialist for Wholefoods. I'm also an aspiring vegan chef, and run the food blog inlovewithveg.com

When I'm not eating, cooking, looking at (I am addicted to foodbuzz), writing about, or thinking about food, I spend my time playing and watching roller derby. I'm currently training with the London Rollergirls Fresh Meat and hope to play competitively in the future!

I joined Slimkicker to motivate me to train harder, to achieve my goals of becoming a great roller derby player, switching from using the bus to cycling full time, and getting an awesome body that I can be proud of. (Come on 6-pack!)

I eat pretty well but I'm super lazy, and spend way too much time playing videogames and watching old gore movies. In the past, I've used my one 2 hour derby practice per week to tell myself 'you exercise, you're fit, you're done for the week, you've earned that Chinese takeaway' but now I want to start exercising consistently throughout the week.

My most important goal is to be cycling full-time by the start of the Olympics next week, as public transport in London will be pretty ridiculous.

There's no UK group so feel free to add me if you're from here, if you're a fellow nutritionist/vegan/aspiring chef/aspiring cyclist/cheesy gore movie nerd etc.

Hey everyone, my name is Daniel.
I live in Okeechobee FL, and happily married to my angel.
Currently on ssi/unemployed, but doesn't mean I don't have dreams/goals. Can play the keyboard by ear, but wanting to actually learn to read and write music, so one day I can make orchestral pieces digitally on my laptop.

I also can write pretty well, write alot of poetry, and currently working on a novel. I enjoy drawing anime, and other various things. A gamer, who loves japanese rpgs/anime games, shooters, and strategies. And thats pretty much me.

Used to be very skinny (unhealthy actually) then as I got older I gained weight. Was good about maintening my weight around 200, but now Im around 220. However, I have alot of muscle as well, and broad shoulders, so its not entirely fat. Trying to work on problem areas I guess (stomach, chest)

Hi everybody! My name is Andrea! I'm 24 and live in Illinois.
I love music and art, psychology and sociology. History and anthropology, especially ancient roman history.
I love change and taking on new challenges.
I'm married and have a beautiful baby boy who is currently 7 months old.
Which is the main reason for changing my lifestyle of eating habits. I've never really been obese but I've always thought I should be smaller than what I am.
My main issue is eating, period. I've struggled with eating disorders since I was 17 and have finally formed a positive outlook on food.
Now, I have a new reason to take care of myself and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, my son :-) A happy and healthy mommy = happy and healthy family!
