I was SOOO close to joining last night when my other half asked my why is medifast any better/different from jenny craig or nutrisystem? I didn't have an answer for him! I know it's cheaper than jenny craig but it isn't cheaper than nutrisystem.. His point is if you look on the website nutrisystem has a lot more meals to choose from... DOES ANYONE HAVE THE ANSWER???.

Uh.... I tried nutrisystem, well I TRIED to try nutrisystem a couple of years ago. The first day was awful. I couldn't choke the food down. I swear wallpaper mud tastes better than their mac and cheese. Order a couple of boxes of Medifast and see what you think.

    And the BROWNIES!.

Now I don't love all of the Medifast food, but I would say 80-85 % I do like and look forward to each day..

Here is my two cents: "If you can eat, you can lose weight with MF"Yes, it is costly, but I think you will be better able to stick with it than with nutrisystem..

I hope you try it. It really is easy and it works..

Oh, and I know most weight loss claims have to say "Results not typical" but I have been on these boards long enough to tell you that weight loss with Medifast IS VERY TYPICAL!!.

Every diet is different and appeals to different people based on their lifestyle..

I was on NS. Everything was loaded w/ sodium. Didn't like the taste of the food and it left me hungry. I lost slowly. Didn't last long on it..

I've been on JC... while the food was WAY better than NS, again, I found I was hungry, and losing 1 lb a week (or less) was WAY too slow for me..

Weight Watchers just taught me how to save up points to eat ice cream at night. Didn't teach me how to eat properly, and gave me WAY too much latitude..

I've been on many others. Won't bore you with the details since you didn't mention the other ones..

I like structure. I like fewer choices. I like simple. I like losing weight FAST..

There are other meal replacement choices out there like WonderSlim. WS is the same idea as MF, but it does not have a support site like this one. THIS one is fantastic. But WS has more variety, is less expensive, but the packets contain fewer nutrients so you gotta take a vit. supplement, it's a bit higher in calories, and, like MF, is faster (in pounds lost per week) than those others above..

Try Medifast for two weeks. You can buy the food online and don't have to go pay those high fees at the centers. See how you like it. I think everyone should give it a full month personally, but I think you'll get the central idea within two weeks..

Look at my numbers in my signature. Trust me. This is my fourth time losing over 100 lbs on a diet. The quickest I EVER lost weight before was 100lbs in 12 months (to the day actually)... I lost 100 lbs in just a smidge over 6 months on the Medifast plan..

    Other's will chime in..

Good luck on your search and hope you find something that works FOR YOU!.

I'm not sure if those other programs have boards like these, but if you look around at the Medifast boards and blogs, and at people's weight loss tickers, you can see that Medifast really works..

I have learned so much from Medifast in three short months much more than I learned on another program. And I continue to learn every day. This is the first time that I have actually felt successful in losing weight. In fact, this is the most weight I have ever lost!.

Following Medifast is easy. I'm not saying it's easy from the beginning or all the time, but if you like routine, Medifast is a good way to go. The guidelines are simple for the 5&1 eat every 2-3 hours, eat 5 Medifast meals and 1 lean and green that you prepare yourself. And they give you guidelines for what to eat for your lean and green..

90% of the food that I have tried, I like. Shakes, bars, bites, brownies, chicken noodle soup, etc..

Hope this helps. Good luck with your decision..

Medifast is a nutritional program that provides you with all the vitamins and nutritients your body needs as well as putting you in the fat burning state which will help you not feel hungry, burn fat, give you energy and you will have less cravings. As you are on teh plan you are learning portion control with your lean and green meal and they off the Habits of Health which will teach you to live a healthier lifestyle for long term maintenance and optimal health..

I agree with what others have said. Until Medifast I had never paid for a diet program. My insurance will subsidize NS. However, Medifast looked like it fit the lifestyle I remember when I was lean (and I am lean again!)- what I call a 'grazer's diet'- eating many small meals a day, rather than 'three squares' that left my blood sugar peaking and dipping so that by the time it was mealtime, I was ready to chew off my arm (and therefore tended to overeat). Plus, you lose weight faster with MF- nothing keeps you motivated to continue like success, especially when you have a long journey ahead of you..

Finally, and most importantly, I have been learning how to adapt this way of 'fueling' using food that I prepare myself (rather than the pre-packaged), so that I can maintain this for the rest of my life. The pre-packaged meals are very convenient, of course- someone else has taken care of portions and nutrition. Ultimately, I want to be able to do this 'myself', and I know others already do..

    Hope this helps..

Everyone I know in my real life that has done Medifast has lost weight, lost it fast, and kept it off. I have known people who have done Nutritional Support and lost some weight but gained it back. I personally did JC years ago and I lost some weight, but gained it back..

With MF, not only have I lost the weight, but it has been EASY (it is not easy for everyone) and I am currently in transition doing well. It teaches you how to eat the rest of your life. You lose your carb cravings. Now I crave vegetables. I wouldn't have changed my eating habits without MF. It's not perfect for everyone, but it's perfect for me..

I guess it depends on whether you want to lose weight or just be on a program. The thing about medifast is that it works..

I also did Nutritional Support several years ago. It works, but it was a lot slower than Medifast has been, and I never did get to my goal on NS. Not that it isn't do-able. If you stick with any program, it should work. Medifast just fits me better. I personally like that they tell you exactly what and how to eat.

It comes off more quickly than any other program I've ever tried (NS, WW, South Beach), and the absolute biggest advantage for me...I'm not hungry!!! Before MF, I needed a huge restaurant meal to feel full. Normal sized meals that other people ate looked like a joke to me. Now I'm eating 800-1000 calories a day and not hungry most of the time. You just can't beat that! Oh, and that certainly wasn't the case on NS!.

Direct him to the website. Have him read success stories. Order a month's worth of food. If the program isn't for you, feel free to move on to the next. It works if you follow the plan..

If you post on an Medifast board of course we are all going to tell you how much we love the diet that is working for us. You will probably get the same thing if you go on boards for other major diets as well..

I will say I tried nutrisystem and didn't like the food. Some do not like the Medifast food but I pretty much like everything. Nutrisystem and WeightWatchers didn't work for me but Medifast does. I don't know if Medifast was just the right time or right place and the others were not but I'm not messing with what works..

Thanks ladies.. great input.. Im going to put it to him tonight and go for it.. (by the way I really only need to loose 30lbs... Medifast is still the best one to choose right?.. I'm guessing so as there is no motivation like looseing lbs quickly ).

I starved on Nutrisystems. In fact, I gained back the measly 10 lbs I lost and 2 years later gained 40 more. Medifast has been the easiest diet I have been on. I have no desire after 5 weeks to even stop it. The weight loss (now leveling out to 2 lbs a week is so encouraging). I swear I am not hungry on it..

I also tried Nutritional Support and I found the weight loss slow, the plan expensive and the food very distasteful after awhile. WW didn't work for me - too much freedom..

Medifast/TSFL has been extremely helpful to me in losing the weight and learning how to eat properly..

Before choosing Medifast/TSFL I went all over the various plan message boards and overall this plan has the most successes and the least dissatisfaction. It's hard not to be impressed by the number of people that have lost weight and kept it off with this plan..

I hope you like it and that you do very well with your weight loss!.

Keep in mind that with only 30 lbs to lose it will come off slower than someone who has 100lbs to lose. I lost 30lbs in one month but I have 150lbs to lose..

I tried Nutritional Support before. I only lost about 10 pounds and did not like the food very much. I got so tired of eating microwaved food and longed for "real food". That's what I like about MF. You get to eat one "real meal" a day..

For many people on here Medifast has literally been a lifesaver. Suggest you read some of the inspirational stories and peruse the boards and look at people's tickers - MaryD for example. I have been on so many diets over the years. Medifast works so fast, you feel fantastic on it and it teaches you control and discipline. I am a restart, day 3, and have already lost 3 pounds. I love MF, do it, you won't regret it !.

I think ALL plans work. It's finding a plan that one can stick to..

I've been on NutriSystem, WW, Jenny Craig, Lindora, Duke University Diet & Fitness Center, Slim Fast, plain old Fasting. protein sparing fast and others. I did not get this kind of result from any of them, they did not take away my hunger (Lindora did, but their program has changed) and I did not lose as quickly..

For me Medifast is by far the easiest and quickest plan I've ever been on AND they are the complete program with a thorough T & M. I didn't get that from the others..

Again, I think they all work, it's what will work best for YOU that's important..

Medifast works because you can't cheat. You can't have a taste of your husband's cake at dinner, or just one Girl Scout Thin Mint. You can't have a cheat day. It throws you out of ketosis and you stall. And when you are losing 2-5 pounds per week (look at my ticker) the constant motivation to keep the scale moving keeps you on tract. And oh by the way, you are learning portion control and healthy eating choices along the way..

I lost 30 pounds in 8 weeks, it cost about $660 for Medifast meals. How much did you spend on eating out during that time?.

The diet program you waste money on is the one you never use. Nutritional Support tasted awful and I gave away 1/2 my first order. Jenny Craig requires freezing and refrigeration and takes up much more space. I like Medifast because it tastes good, and it works..

You'll find quite a few people on the board here who are adjusting their goal weight DOWN. I never heard that on other diets..

Why it's better for me (and I've been on nutrisystem)...I found medifast easier to stick to....It takes away "choice" which for an addict like myself, choice is not my friend at this point. I lost 20 pounds on nutrisystem and went off of it. I didn't like the food enough to keep going. I like the foods on medifast, and I'm almost 60 pounds down and I don't plan on stopping until I get to goal..
