Hello, I've looked on here and used the search but haven't really found any answers. I work on an ambulance and sometimes we get really busy and I forget to bring a Medifast bar with me and we wont get back to the building for an hour or 2 maybe even longer sometimes... I've stopped at the local 7-11 and picked up a muscle milk shake being that is seems to have the nutrients in it that I need to not feel hungry. So my question is, is this any good? Are the muscle milk drinks ok to consume on this diet as a quick replacement option in an emergency situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

I would say no but what is the card count?.

Are you always on the same ambulance? Put an extra box in there.

Or put some extra bars in your gear that you always grab when you respond to a call..

If none of these work you could have an extra protein maybe stop at a grocery store and grab some deli turkey and have 5 oz of that. A little extra protein but no additonal carbs. As a ulitmate last resort. This would be better IMO than the Muscle Milk..

Try to plan ahead so that you dont go more than 2.5 to 3 hours without eating.

Yes I'm always on the same ambulance but other people use it also after my shift. The carb count is fairly low in muscle milk. I try to remember but sometimes in a hurry I forget to grab some extra bars...I was just curious, I'm gonna try and stay away from it now and when I'm at work I make sure I eat my meals like clock work...so far it has been working and I'm down 22lbs since the first week in February....

In a pinch yes, otherwise no. Not more than once a week. Don't try to replace Medifast with this as the weight loss is slower but it is a better option than anything else. My suggestion would be to order a case of ready to drink Medifast shakes and have those ready in hand. Having one meal with you is never enough. When I am out and about I try to at least carry three meals as time can fly and fast..

I'm not a guy, but can I answer: look at the ready made shakes that Medifast offers too, you can put those in your vehicle for when you're out on calls and need something. Maybe have a to-go kit that you take to work with you and have in the ambulance: bottles of water, couple of bars and a couple of these ready made shakes for your just in case times?.

I was told it was okay to eat Atkins early morning bars in a pinch. Also, EAS carb-light shakes can be used if it's only once in a while. Hope this helps. I had to ask the same question once. Good luck!!.

Sounds to me like you are planning to fail because you fail to plan....dont feel bad yesterday was hectic and discovered when I logged today I ate 2 snacks yesterday but no Medifast afternoon meal worst part is I had enough with me...i would get some sort of small lunch or even toiletries bag and pack your lunch the night before.

    THIS exactly!!!.

Who is saying that these things are okay? Atkins bars etc? It can't be anyone from Nutritional Support on this site. The nutritional stats are different. They also count carbs differently. They take out for fiber carbs or something like that. Medifast says a carb is a carb..

Thanks guys I didnt know they had ready to go shakes, I have been using the powdered "do it yourself" shakes since I started the program. I just edited my order and picked up some ready to go shakes so I can solve my problem. I pack a lunch every day and do try and plan out my meals the night before. I havent done this often, like I said I was just asking worst case scenario type deal. But now when my new order comes in next week I'll be good to go from now on! Thanks for the feedback!.
