I am about to post another 7 of my recipes. I am not writing a book. I don't want to make any money off it. I am pretty good at modifying classic recipes to fit lean and green. I care about you. I want you to be successful.
I want to share my recipes..
I love when people modify a recipe to make it work for them (Isn't that what I am doing after all) I love it when you tweak my recipe to make it taste more like what your pallet desires. By all means switch out the parsley for the cilantro or swap garlic for some onion..
I work very very hard to make sure that the recipes I post are 100% on plan. If I have something questionable, I note nutrition supports answer on it. This is my passion..
Every time someone says "I made your recipe I just changed the cream cheese to fat free cream cheese" or "I didn't have any turnips so I used carrots" there is a vein in my forehead that almost explodes. I have an image of someone saying "Oh yeah, the recipe for fat free cream cheese and carrot salad? I got that from Juanita".
I want to make a request that if you change it so it is no longer on plan that you start a new thread and not credit the recipe to me at all. I won't be offended if you don't even say I inspired you. It will really mean a lot to me..
I cannot tell you how grateful I am, and I know I am not alone, for your generosity in sharing your talent and your determination to stick to the plan. There are a lot of recipes floating around (and at least one who is making money off it) that are misfigured, or purport to be OP but have at the least far too many condiments. It would be wonderful to have a source that is both imaginative and safe to eat! Thank you, thank you, thank you!.
Have you considered just putting your recipes on your blog (you can do it on the mymedifast website blog, no outside links necessary)?.
You could have control of the conversation and delete comments etc..
I think it would be nice if people honored your request, but I don't think everyone will read this thread, or even many of the details even if you included it in every post. It's the nature of forums and.
Discussion.
Boards. If you put it out there, people will take it and make it their own. Especially for recipes, people use what they have in the fridge instead of going out to the store, and then share their experiences. It's just...what happens..
Interested to see what you come up with this week..
Juanita, I wondered how you were feeling about all of the tweaks. You are a steady eddie as the program goes, but many aren't. I think Seramine's idea is a good one. You could even put a blurb at the bottom of each recipe saying you love sharing, but please don't call it Juanita's recipe if you are going to change it and post it. You could also just post every couple of days that you have posted a new recipe on your blog..
It is a tough call. I am on a diabetic plan. I am required to add a snack or two a day to stay out of ketosis. I often include it in my lean and green but I don't post those recipes because I know other people can't have them and I don't want people to read it and think it is on plan. I feel like if I tuck it in a blog less people will see it and I maybe it's my pride talking, but I really do think my recipes help people. Also, you can't search blogs. Maybe I just need to be less sensitive..
I don't think you're being sensitive. I think your recipes are great and appreciate the effort you make to ensure that they are appropriate for this program. Even if it's something that is tweaked using off plan albeit healthy ingredients that you have inspired, I think you can still take pride in that. Inspiring someone to get out and cook healthy meals for themselves is huge and a tool that will stay with them long after the weight loss is done..
So, don't let people that tweak things and credit you get you upset. You are still inspiring MFer's to get out there and cook using far healthier ingredients than they have prior to MF. Be proud of that and please, keep them coming!.
Gojo, the easiest way is to do an advanced search by member. Make sure it says "thread starter" or something like that. It will pull up all of the threads she started and most of them are recipes..
