Today is my first day on medifast ch chip pancakes r my fave food so I got the medifast ones that was my first meal today but it was so bad tasting I had to throw it out I couldn't even choke it down what can I do?????.
I put the mix, 1/4 cup water, and a packet of splenda in a coffee mug and mix with a fork. Zap it in the microwave for 1 min. 20 sec. and eat it right out of the mug. It's one of my favorites..
I like the regular ones; haven't tried the chocolate chip yet. With the regulars, I mix it just like it says and cook on the stove. I really like them plain, but sometimes I add cinnamon. Good luck..
P.S. I add cinnamon to lots of things like the puddings & shakes, oatmeal, etc. Cinnamon + cayenne (just a pinch) is awesome in anything chocolate..
I like the reg ones too. They are my fav Medifast meal. I put cinnamon in them and spray butter pam in pan and cook. Add a little Walden Farms WF SF Syrup and I love them..
Good luck...I posted a similar thread a few days ago. I've tried to cook them stovetop and using the various muffin recipes that I've seen in other posts. Of all, the muffin had them turn out much better (which is probably due to the addition of cinnamon and vanilla). From what I've read, having the mix sit and thicken may help as would adding less water..
None of the breakfast options have been overly tasty. All seem to need something added. Even the eggs need a dosage of salsa from time to time..
I don't mind the taste so much but I'm having a terrible time actually flipping the pancakes. They fall apart and I end up eating a scrambled pancake. Any flipping tips?.
I'm on my 3rd week of Medifast and not loving the pancakes either. I have been making chocolate chip muffins out of them instead, it is a great way to doctor them up without adding any condiments or healthy fats. Here is what I do..
Whisk together 1 CC pancake packet and 2 oz water, then add 1 brownie packet and 3 Tbsp water and whisk it all together. If you like fluffier muffins you can add 1/4 tsp baking powder. I make mine without. I spray 2 small ramekins with a little pam, pour the "batter" equally into each and microwave them on high for about a minute and 30 seconds. I let them cool a little and I have 2 Medifast meals for the day!.
Dayum, I masterd this... OK the PLAIN, jus a LIL bit of water.. and stir until moistened. Then use a butter spray.. spray the pan, do one medium pancake or 3 silver dollars.. brown, flip, brown..
NOW... For the Chocolate chip pancakes, I break up my proteins for the day. Instead of 12 egg whites, I do 2 egg whites scamble them.. and just one or two DRIZZLES of egg whites off your fork into your pancake batter. NOW follow the aforementioned instructions..
some people add baking powder. I think that may work very well too... Good luck!!!.

I had a problem with this at first, but I've got it down now. Half the battle is to make sure you spray with enough Pam first. When I think it's ready to flip, I go all around the edges with the spatula and lift up the edges slightly. If it's really ready, it should loosen up pretty easily. Then it's a simple matter to flip it..
Thanks for the tips, all. I haven't tried Pam yet (wasn't sure if that was okay) so I'll give that a try next time. And I love the idea of making muffins out of them. I guess I'm so new (one week) that I haven't ventured into combining packets yet..
The pancakes are my favorite meal for breakfast. I had trouble flipping them at first but then I started putting Pam on both the pan and the flipper. Now they are beautiful. I usually add a little cinnamon..
I eat them every day and dig em! But I did notice the first couple times I made them that they didnt turn out right. I bought myself a high quality nonstick pan that doesn't require spraying PAM before cooking so I don't have to waste a condiment on PAM. I used this pan to make my pancakes and made them only silver dollar size and they came out MUCH better! I've been using this pan to cook all of my food now because you can get a nice crust on the outside without having to use any oil at all. For sauteeing, keep a squirt bottle of water by the stove and use that to get stuff going rather than oils too.....another way to save healthy fats if you need to..
I've been on Medifast since 4/6/11 and have been reading the discussion boards avidly trying to learn more from others. Its so great to gain perspective from people who've been doing this awhile because there truly is a learning curve making this program fit into your lifestyle seamlessly.....but it can be done as I can attest! I found out the hard way....resisting the changes only prolongs your success and daily comfort..
As far as your pancake disdain, I have something to say about it, but I don't want you to think I'm being trite or condescending because I don't mean it that way at all. This advice is from my heart with good intention in hopes of being honest and supportive and based on my own experience in getting started eating prepackaged astronaut food.........
All of us have been enjoying eating with reckless abandon everything that appeals to us whenever our hearts desire it. And it was FUN...that is until it wasn't. Thats why we're all here trying to lose the pounds that are the consequence of our decadent lifestyles and indulgent mindsets. That being said, all of us have now chosen to be on this postitive trajectory together....aiming for wellness. And we can all achieve our goals too...but not without concession. We have to make changes and we have to venture out of the box we've been living in and make the choice to accept new ideas and new foods and tastes as well as new ways of eating with gusto.
All the seductive rich flavors that have lured you into maintaining the eating patterns you thought you enjoyed have been destroying you. Never forget that thought as you encounter new flavors and new ideas about food and how to eat it. Medifast prepackaged pancakes sure aren't going to taste like IHOP or Gramma's homemade. But.....they aren't going to make your butt fat either! When I taste something for the first time that doesn't set my world on fire, I no longer allow my inner dialogue to be negative....which I might add is a constant challenge. I switch to another product after that meal (I won't throw stuff out because of the cost).....or I decide to revisit the product again later after I mull over what I didn't like about it and how I might be able to remedy it.
We can't eat the way we used to and we have to choose health each time something crosses our lips or it's never gonna work. Through trial and error just find the stuff you like and automate your day for a week or two.....then try to revisit the products you didnt like in the beginning. Your tastebuds will change once your body gets further and further away from all the stuff you were eating before you began MF. I think later when we reintroduce food this clearing out and retraining process will allow our tastes to "grow up" and accept and prefer the healthier lifestyles our new bodies will require to maintain them. Isn't that idea sort of exciting??!.
Keep reading the insightful posts of successful Medifast veterans on these discussion boards and the inspiration will keep you going. Good luck Dear......I wish you success and health! *hugs*.
I tried this and I love it! It makes the Medifast Pancakes more like a muffin! Thank you so much for this idea. You know, I would never have even thought to try this.. how did you figure out how to do it? I'm so grateful because I needed an easier way to use the pancakes, and this is definitely the way!.
I LOVE the pancakes made into a waffle - if you have a waffle iron, just make the pancake mix as suggested (perhaps use less water, so it doesn't run all over the place). Cook in the waffle iron (I use a spray of Pam to keep from sticking). It is SO YUMMY - and you don't have to worry about flipping and making a huge mess. I always add some light margarine and some sugar free pancake syrup. Delicious..
I made the pancakes one day & thought they were soooooooo bad I couldnt even take a second bite, had to toss um. I had two boxes, so I tried again... This time, 2oz water & the pancake pouch went into my shaker, 6 quick shakes and then poured onto a preheated, PAM sprayed waffle iron, cooked about 5 mins and then drizzled with a tiny bit of Walden Farms pancake syrup, OMG.........yuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like the real deal, I have them EVERY morning now!!!!.
Ok, I have changed my method on my pancakes and they come out even better. I just got my new T-Fal Professional Total Nonstick 12-1/2 Inch Saute Pans, cleaned and seasoned them per the instructions, heated up to medium and cooked up a perfect set of pancakes. I also got a brand new Oxo silicon turner. This makes cooking easy with absolutely no oil. I can't believe I waited so long to replace my old "non-stick" pans. These pans were only $30 bucks each at Amazon.
I've seen these get great ratings for being non-stick, ease of cleaning and cost of replacement (hey, only $30)..

You can always add to it to change the flavor (MIO, cinnamon, cocoa, extracts, Torani SF syrups, soy crumbles, bacon bits ...).
Most of the time I eat them plain with 1/2 packet of splenda sprinkled on top..
Also, they're a great to-go meal. Just prepare 1 or 2 at night, cool, then slip into baggies..

Cinnamon Roll.
1 Pkt Medifast pancake.
2 T water.
1 Pkt Splenda.
1/8 tsp Cinnamon.
1 T light cream cheese.
Mix pancake mix, cinnamon, water and 1/2 of Splenda. Pour into small dish and microwave 50 seconds. Once it comes out it looks like a small biscuit..
Mix cream cheese and the rest of the Splenda in the same bowl you mixed the batter...this gets a little leftover cinnamon in the "icing". Top roll..
It would be good even without the "icing" and maybe a little sugar free syrup..
