Someone asked a question and Jennifer replied: "My name is Jennifer and I am a Registered Dietitian with Nutrition Support. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. There is a process currently in place to shut down selling Medifast products illegally on EBay.".
I hope Medifast can shut down the illegal sellers on eBay so only those who have left over food can sell it and we'll be the winners in the long run. I've never ordered from one of those illegal sellers who offer 4 weeks worth of food with free shipping at less then Medifast sells it. They are hurting Medifast and thus are costing us more money as Medifast takes away the 5% and 10% off our orders..
Who would have access to that much MF? Why, it stands to reason medical practitioners would. I once asked three eBay sellers where they get their food from. Only one responded and said she was a nurse in a doctor's office. And/or could they be the Medifast centers?? They have lots on hand..
If I'm wrong someone kindly correct me..
While they might think they're doing us a favor, they are NOT! They buy the Medifast cheaply and are supposed to sell it only to their patients, not sell on eBay..
It's about time Medifast went after them. There are some on eBay who have been doing this for years. I'm sure Medifast knows who they are by now. It's not too difficult to find out..
I feel badly that in this economy what little break people on Medifast had (the 5% and 10%) off has been done away with along with any and all coupon codes..
If Medifast attempts to shut down e-bay sales, there won't be an exception for those of us who have leftover food. E-Bay isn't going to weed through sellers trying to distinguish big operations from the small ones; they'll just ban all Medifast products..
Not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing, just that that is how it will work out..
Frankly, as a lawyer, I think Medifast is going to have trouble trying to stop people who acquired food legally from selling it to anybody they'd like. If they've broken their contract with MF, then that is something else, but if not, then generally you can do whatever you'd like with your own property. It's not like Medifast products are prescription only..
Medical doctors can buy the products at wholesale prices. I remember reading that they pay $99 per case (retail is $178/case)..
Maybe Medifast is cracking down on doctors and/or their staff who sell on ebay. It wouldn't surprise me if their agreement says they must only sell to bona fide patients..
"I understand that medical practitioners are prohibited from selling, auctioning or attempting to sell Medifast products, programs or promotional materials on the Internet without the expressed prior written consent from Take Shape For Life. I understand that either Medifast, Take Shape For Life or I may terminate this agreement at any time, for any reason, with 10 days written notice.".
No no, Medifast can't shut down or would even attempt to shut down eBay sales because they can't. That's not what I'm saying. But Medifast sure can shut down their contract with their buyers in bulk who are not following their contract with MF. I'm not a lawyer, but they sure must be breaking their contract. Medifast can pull it any ti me they want. Right?.
