I eat them almost daily and they give me the same problem all the bars do. I always suffer from Medifart. it's just a part of my life now after so long. I have tried probiotics but after a bit they just stopped working..
I researched and made a list of the Medifast foods without Inulin and sugar alcohols (these are the big culprits). I only eat those Medifast foods now and the problem is pretty much gone. Beano and probiotics don't help with foods containing those ingredients..
Before Medifast I was eating Kashi Cereal every morning. That was intense by the afternoon. I eat one bar mid morning and the same thing but not quite intense. Good thing my little guy is taking a nap at that time!.
I have the same problems with the bars, plus an additional one, I think. I think the sugar alcohols mess with my blood sugar. I'm not diabetic, but I tend to be hypoglycemic. About 30 minutes after eating the bars (and I eat a lot of S'mores because they're good!), I seem to have an insulin spike and get a little shaky and irritable, as if I'm having a hypoglycemic attack (much like I used to when I ate a Snickers). It doesn't happen with any of the other meals. Weird! Anybody else?.
Thanks for all the info. I'm fine with Oatmeal Raisin bars and Peanut Butter bars and was wondering if it was a specific ingredient. I def would stay away from it as I was really uncomfortable all day and the growling was audible!!!.
I just read a post on Nutritional Support about the S'mores bars that were shipped in the summer. The OP said they seemed to have melted then re-solidified. She noticed they were darker in color, tasted funny, and caused her to feel a burning sensation in her mouth..
Below is the Nutritional Support response. Interesting. I think if you're experiencing unusual issues with them, it may be a good idea to call Nutritional Support with the lot #, etc..
Just a thought,.

Hello, my name is Matt, I am a registered dietitian with nutrition support..
Congratulations on your weight loss success to this point. I hope you are doing well..
There was a batch of S'mores Crunch Bars that were found to have an excess of spice added during mixing. Some of this batch did get out for sale as the mixing error was not noticed until after a period of time..
Can you provide us with the Lot # (bottom of the box, below the bar code)? Your customer ID and/or full name? If you provide me with this information, I can forward it to our client solutions center to provide further assistance. Once we have this information entered into the system it will expedite the process to provide you with an exchange and/or return..
After 5 months of loving the bars and eating them daily, they suddenly gave me horrible stomach pains. I had to stop eating them. I have incorporated them back into my plan recently, and enjoy them occasionally. All the bars affected me, though, not just a single type. that's curious..
I hope you post this question to Nutritional Support to see if that bar is different in any way....
I stopped eating the bars altogether last April. They just cause me such digestive distress. Gas pains, bloating, diarreah, etc. I am pretty certain it is the maltitol, as that is known to commonly causes these types of symptoms..
So now, I make brownies and soft bakes, wrap them up and throw them in my purse with a plastic fork. Almost as convenient as a bar!.
I was one of the people involved in that recall. It actually started with Smores bars manufactured February 2012. But it's very possible people still have these. I also wondered what would happen if they were purchased on eBay or Craigs list..
