I will be going grocery shopping in a few hours and I am tempted to try this but I am scared. I know that it can't possibly taste like spaghetti. What does it taste like? What if I only kind of like squash?.

I don't really like cauliflower and I love Sandy's cauliflower pizza. That is why I am willing to try something else. I just want some honest opinions about spaghetti squash. Thanks!.

Oh and how well does it reheat?.

I don't really think spaghetti squash has a taste. I made sauce with whole tomato's, garlic, mushroom and ground turkey and used it over the spaghetti squash and I loved it. I don't like it with nothing on top of it but as an alternative for pasta I think it works..

    I love it!.

It has a hint of a sweetness to it, unlike most yellow squash or zucchini..

Mixed with a laughing cow cheese wedge and it's super yummy!.

I think it has the awesome ability to take on the flavors that you mix with it, just remember there is JUST a HINT of sweetness..

Of course I like it also, just plain or with a spray of ICBINB. YUM!.

For usually around $0.99 lb, how can you go wrong with just trying it?.

I would say that the taste has a hint of the same squashness of acorn squash but much more subdued. It's not going to be an exact replacement of noodles, but we use it quite often. After you add herbs or sauce, the squash taste melts away a little. BUT make sure that you don't cook it until too soft, then it's just no good. I like mine to have a little bite to it so that it more closely resembles noodles..

As far as reheating, it works great, as long as it's not overcooked.

I love squash (summer and winter) but do not like spaghetti squash - my mom made it all the time when I was growing up, lots of different ways (but usually with a tomato sauce). I don't like the texture..

I really like it. I love squash, but it doesn't taste like squash to me. it kind of takes on the flavor of what you add to it. I really like mine with ground turkey & tomato sauce. I love the texture..

I LOVE spaghetti squash!!! I had never tried it before MF. I cook it in the microwave and put a little ICBINB on it. My 12 year old granddaughter loves it with butter and a little salt. She comes over when ever she knows we are having it for dinner. Definitely worth trying..

Oh yeah, I meant to say - even though I personally don't like it, I would absolutely recommend buying it and trying it for yourself!.

    I love it!.

You have to try it at least once..

This is how I prepare it:.

Cut squash in half lengthwise and get a microwavable plate and put a little water on the plate. Put the squash cut side down on the plate with water. Microwave 8-10 minutes. Remove, (use oven mits!) and spoon out the seeds. Next use a fork and scrape at the 'meat' of the squash and strands of 'noodles' will come off..

Brown 95% Lean ground beef or turkey Use 5oz of the beef, or 6-7 oz turkey depending on fat content..

1/2 Cup of Hunt's No Added Sugar Pasta sauce.

    1 Cup of Spaghetti Squash.

Sprinkle with parmesan cheese if desired.....

This is so delish, it really gets me over the craving for pasta..

I absolutely love it, it's my 'noodle' fix. I can't cut the sucker though so I cook it like an artichoke - about 30 minutes in a big pot with some water. When I can get a fork through, it's done. Then I can cut it and scoop out the seeds. I just spray a little butter-spray on it and love it..

It's alright, I had it last night for the first time with some L&G meatballs and sauce. I topped the squash with the meatballs and sauce and won't do that again. the thing I didn't like was that the squash was crunchy. I cut it lenghtwise, scooped out the seeds and baked it at 375 for 40 minutes, so it really should've been done. i'll try it again in the microwave next time and maybe some salt. no sauce on top though for me..

Is there a difference in the taste between preparing in microwave or oven?.

I bake mine in the oven. Split lengthwise, cut side down on lightly Pam sprayed foil on a cookie sheet. Bake until fork tender at 350. Remove seeds after baking. Then use a fork to "shred" out the insides..

To me it tastes a little "green"...?.

I have never liked the taste of squash, but I gave spaghetti squash a try since I can't eat noodles and I actually found it to be a very decent substitute. After baking it, I topped it with tomato sauce and some Trader Joe's Turkey Meatballs and I really couldn't taste the "squash" flavor at all..

I agree with the other posts. It really doesn't have a strong flavor but it picks up the spices or sauces that you use. It is great with a wedge of Laughing Cow lite cheese and a tablespoon of salsa! I usually have it with some lean baked turkey meatballs..

Don't overcook or it is mush - you want al dente spaghetti squash! I just cut in in half, scoop out the seeds and turn cut side down in a pan with about a half and inch of water. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until the top (outer side) is easy to push in with your finger..

Scrape out the strands of squash with a fork going long ways down the squash and use as you want!.
