Starting to get hungry on Medifast

I've been on plan with very few cheats for almost 18 weeks now...I'm VERY happy with my progress and up until the past week felt like this was the greatest diet ever invented. Of course, I realize this is more than a diet - this is a life changing program designed to help us scrutinize everything we eat...when we eat...what we eat...how we prepare what we eat, etc...oh, and to drink A LOT of water..

I had a very stressful weekend followed by a very stressful first couple of days at work. I'm typically very good about eating my meals at 2 - 3 hour intervals. However, during the weekend that was stretched to 3 - 4 hours and I typically missed the final meal of the day...didn't sleep long or particularly well...got up early and started the whole routine over again. On Tuesday I went at least 4 hours between meals twice and I missed my final meal...then I saw my cardiologist, who, by the way, is thrilled with my progress and told me I never had to come back to see him again! But he said one thing that really caught me off guard - My body wants to get back to 303 lbs..

So, since this weekend and possibly since I saw my Dr, I've been getting hungry (or at least I think I'm hungry) about 1 - 1.5 hours after I eat. The first couple of days I used my optional snack, either pistachios or almonds, but then I found myself having my optional snack twice...almost did it again yesterday, but I told myself these are the old habits that need to die and be buried..

I'm very focused and hope this is just the result of a notion my Dr put in my head, but thought I'd reach out to all my fellow loosers and see if this is kinda normal? Or, since I'm not really a normal guy, is this mental..

One last thing, I weigh in tomorrow and I'm really hoping for a 4 lb week so I can claim 90 lbs gone!.

No, You're not alone. I get hungry sometimes too. I use some almonds, or three green olives stuffed with jalapenos and garlic, or the Medifast soy crisp snacks to get me through the day. Sometimes.... I even use two of the above.

If I'm having a real hungry day I'll also add 1-2 oz of extra protein to my L&G..

BigD - This is great news for me...especially coming from someone who's knocking those unwanted pounds out of the ring! Good to know I'm one step closer to my wife calling me normal...of course, this after 29.5 years?.

I am starving all the time. Really, from day one I have been starving, even shortly after I eat. I drink a couple of gallons of water a day...it doesn't help. I figure I was always hungry when I was fat, I guess I can get skinny and be hungry. However......

I read a post on here the other day that referenced a study that said exactly what your doctor told you. Our bodies actually release chemicals to try and get us fat again. If I believe what I read, it means this will be a life long struggle with my own freakin body. I'll try to find a link to that post and send it to you..

OK, here is what I read..

I still think I can win this. I have always known my challenge will be keeping the weight off. It is a little depressing to think my body.

    MAY.

Actually be working against me. At least I know how well this program works and I can use it to maintain my weight once I reach my goal..

James - Thanks for the link...sorta...let's say it wasn't really encouraging....but, you know what? I've been fat my whole life...since 5th grade...I blame Mrs Poland - biatch - but that's for another message board...I'm convinced if I change the things I can, how, what, when and how often I eat, plus keep an eye on my weight daily/weekly, and continue to exercise, then I will be doing everything I can (and everything I've learned on this plan) to keep the weight off..

And, what's wrong with my ticker? Football season is just around the corner...and I'm convinced the Redskins will be lucky to be .500!.

Jeff, I think he meant his ticker..

Gum, you have to remake it everytime you update your weight. Then copy/paste it in your sig line again..

What are you talking about? We have RG3...Super Bowl Bound!!!!.

PS...I sometimes get hungry right after I eat, I just try to forget it and think about something else until it passes. I think it's just our minds messing with us..

Yep it was my ticker. AND it sure would be nice if this year was the Redskins year....been waiting a long time. They always start out so strong, then seem to fall apart..
