Surviving vacation during Medifast?

Just returned from a week at the beach. It was a great vacation AND I stayed on plan! I did NOT drink any alcohol (I love my rum at the beach). I skipped the very best donuts I've ever eaten (hot and made to order - and I normally don't even eat donuts). I also skipped the candy store, of which there are about 40 of them - one on every other corner for goodness sake! I avoided ALL boardwalk food - that was a little rough..

I did 5 &1 all week - I cooked for myself a few nights (boardwalk food night - I ate before we went)..

I had 1 small ice cream and a taste of some on another night. And besides the occasional string cheese, I did not go off plan. I'm so super proud of myself. I saw the goal at the end. I saw that I did not need food to have fun. I enjoyed my Medifast meals.

    LOL!.

So I will weigh in tomorrow morning instead of my regular Friday to see where I am. Truthfully, after eating out a few times (and picking OP choices each time) and having the ice cream (which I was glad I had - it was the one thing I decided I wanted), I will be happy even if I stayed the same. Why? Because I made PHENOMENAL choices. ALL WEEK. And for that, I'm SO proud and no number on the scale can change the choices I made. In years past, we went to the donut shoppe twice in a week.

Then we'd go to the ice cream store, the boardwalk and the candy store and at each place, I would have really bad food. And I would drink rum & diet coke every day. I did none of that..

Going to WDW next month - that may present a bigger challenge, but I'm still up for it..

Yay me! Yay for a great vacation. Yay for having no problem walking around in my bathing suit. Yay for good choices!.

That is awesome! What a great inspiration you are. Making choices that you are in control of instead of being controlled by your surrounding is a huge win!!,.

That is awesome! I tell myself.. I can eat it when I on Maintenance.. that what I tell all skeptics out there and they shut up.. even my doctor, who is clueless about Medifast..So more power to you! Whoo Hoo!.

By the way, I was in Ocean City myself, last weekend. I brought the electric blend, Almond Milk with me and made myself a couple of Chocolate Chip Bake shakes with crushed ice.. to the consistency of a real ice cream shake.. it satisfied me to resist "Kohl's" soft serve!.

Great job - I love all that boardwalk sludge but when we went in July I just kept telling myself "You've already eaten enough ice cream/fries/pizza/etc for one lifetime." it worked!.

Thanks everyone!! I did weigh in this morning and I was 176 which is down 1 pound from my previous weigh in. But I'll take it!!.

And SexyBoomer - OC has the best junk food ever. It's deadly! Dumser's Dairyland has the best hard vanilla ice cream. So that's what I decided I would have - my only OffPlan item. and I ordered the "baby" size. And forget Fractured Prune donuts - holy moly. I just skipped them altogether!.

Great job!! You have a lot to be proud of. It's funny how the time leading up to a vacation can be filled with anxiety, but we really discover how strong (and smart!!) we can be when we actually get there. My mantra on vacation (and any time I'm faced with a junk food temptation) is always, "I know what ice cream (or donuts, or pizza, or candy, or...) tastes like." Makes it so much easier to politely decline..
