Trouble eating the Medifast oatmeal...

I had heard, after ordering a box, that the oatmeal isn't great. So I avoided it in the pantry. I'm waiting for my next order so I must "face the oatmeal". I tried the cookie recipe on the box yesterday and had a tough time getting them down..

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!.

I don't mind the oatmeal at all - I enjoy the maple and the apple versions. I had one on Day 2 and have had them many days since then (I'm finishing week 4 now). I make mine with hot water (from the keurig machine at work), stir while the water is being added to avoid clumps, cover, and let it sit for 15 minutes or so, then eat. I hate making things in the microwave because of the spillover issues..

Since I enjoy the oatmeal as is, I haven't tried any of the cookie or muffin or waffle ideas.....But if you search (upper right hand menu bar) you'll come up with lots of recipe ideas.....

If you put a dab of WF sugar free syrup in the mix, it is much better!.

I LOVE the oatmeal. I add 1 splenda and cinnamon to it, add boiling water and cover for a few minutes. I also put in a little half 'n half..

I dont like the oatmeal. I found one of the muffin recipes tho and used it in that. Theyre heavy, but ok. I warm them up and put on a drizzle of WF chocolate syrup. I do really really like it as part of the mock apple crisp recipe, with zucchini, that is really good..

Heres that recipe. Thanks to coach Shari for the recipe..

    Medifast Mock Apple Crisp.

    2 cups raw zucchini slices.

    3 T lemon juice.

    1/4 cup Splenda.

    1/4 tsp cinnamon.

    1/8 tsp nutmeg.

1 Medifast BS&M or AC Oatmeal.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel zucchini & slice lengthwise. Core/seed the halves then then cut into 1/4 inch slices (or however thick you like in order to look like apple slices.) Put slices in sauce pan with 3 T lemon juice. Bring to boil & cover & cook for 5-6 minutes, until tender. Drain throughly. Place the slices back into the pan & add the Splenda, cinnamon, nutmeg & 1 tsp of the Oatmeal powder. Cook & stir for another 2-3 minutes..

Pour into small oven safe bowl.

Melt 1 T trans fat free margarine & pour over remaining oatmeal. Mix. Sprinkle over the 'apples' & bake in the oven for about 30 minutes or until 'apples' are bubbling & topping is browned..

3 green servings of cooked zucchini (approx 1.5 cups cooked).

1-2 condiments (juice is drained so don't know how much is retained).

    1 fat.

Muffin recipe's okay... try adding a little unsweetened cocoa powder and a pinch of Splenda.... OR for something completely outside the box for the oatmeal:.

I'm not an oatmeal fan, either, so what I did to use them up was to MIX an oatmeal packet with a shake of your choice i.e., Maple Oatmeal/Vanilla Shake = Butterscotch Shake YUM!!! and put both packets in a blender cup with about 1.25 cups of cold water... blend it up... then SPLIT the contents into TWO meals in separate blender cups. When ready to prepare, add about an inch of CRUSHED ice, a splash of water, shake well, and then blend it..

    THAT'S how you eat oatmeal!!!!!.

    Hap.

I've been making the oatmeal muffins to help me get through the oatmeal. Funny thing is, one day I forgot my baking powder, splenda, and cinnamon (I always forgot to put in the vanilla), so I just baked it with water. It wasn't horrible and I managed to eat it fine. Now I'm just trying to burn through the 1.5 boxes I have left of it and not using any condiments and making it into a muffin work well now..

My first meal on 9/30/11 was the oatmeal. I wanted to cry. but now? It's my favorite meal!.

It's possible that you just need to take the time to get used to it. I find I like the fruit ones more than the brown sugar one..

If ever I change them (which isn't often), I sometimes put a splenda packet in there to sweeten it up. Or!....and brace yourself for this one....I sometimes put 1 Tsp of Sugar Free Cheery Jello in the apple cinnamon oatmeal to give it a cherry apple flavor. I personally like it. You might experiment that way?.

I was worried about the oatmeal, after reading some negative reviews. I love regular oatmeal and was afraid I couldn't tolerate the Medifast oatmeal. But I LOVE it. So warm and soothing first thing in the morning. I don't add anything to it....just eat it as is. Yum..

I love the oatmeal, the maple and the blueberry. I have it daily at least once. I have made muffins with both. I like them. I never add anything except water for the muffins or the oatmeal. I don't like things very sweet.

At first, I did think it had a baby formula and cereal taste, but after a few days, I was digging it..

Steve, I think you are addicted to SF Jello! LOL!!.

I was worried about the oatmeal at first, and it was NOT my first meal based on what I read here. Now, I like it. I haven't had the peach; I have Maple and Apple. In my recent order, I got one packet of Blueberry to try..

I find it to be very filling..

My first meal was the maple and brown sugar oatmeal. I love oatmeal so I thought this would be a breeze, boy was I wrong.

I thought if this is how the food tastes I'm not going to be able to do this. My coach gave me a pancake recipe, had it this morning and it was really good.

    Here's the recipe.

One packet Medifast Maple or Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, 2 packets of Stevia, Truvia or Splenda, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a capful of vanilla, 1/3 cup water..

Mix well and pour on a hot pan or griddle sparyed with Pam. The don't bubble up, but you can tell when they look "firm" on the first side - flip and be sure you press down with the spatula on the 2nd side so they aren't gooey on the inside. I use I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray (approved by MF) and then the Medifast Sugarfree syrup..

Another recipe I love is Oatmeal Breakfast Treat.

1 packet Medifast Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal.

    3/4c hot water.

    1/8 tsp allspice.

    1/8 tsp ginger.

    1/4 tsp cinnamon.

Mix Oatmeal, spices & water in a bowl. Chill in the refrigerator overnight, and in the morning remove and stir. Microwave on high for 2-3 mins. Stir and Enjoy!!.

I love both of these recipes and will order the oatmeal again and again..

    Hope this helps.

    Phospelhorn.

The oatmeal is probably my favorite (blueberry and apple cinnamon varieties). I add 2/3 cup water and let it soak for 20-30 minutes then cook in the microwave for 1.5 minutes. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken up a bit and then add cinnamon and enjoy. Have it every day for breakfast..

Have to use up my Maple BS oatmeal & have started making a microwave "muffin".

Oatmeal plus a heaping teaspoon of PB2, mixed with just over 1/3 cup water (add little by little till it achieves a cookie dough consistency), spread in a pyrex flat bottom, straigt sided bowl (about 3-4" diameter). Microwave 1 min on high, flip over (it really doesn't sticktrust me) & then nuke another minute. Let stand a minute or 2, flip onto plate and dust with a great cinnamon (i use Penzy's). It comes out kind of like a crumpet..

I actually soaked some peach oatmeal overnight last night and was very pleased with the results. I added boiling water to it, stirred and then put in the refrigerator. I'm kinda curious if the boiling water at the beginning is needed if I'm soaking overnight. What do you guys do??.
