What's the toughest part about eating healthy?

Is it a lack of time? no motivation?

for me, it's a bit of both... when I get home from work, I have no time to cook a decent meal, so end up eating a TV dinner or ordering out most nights. So I've been spending some time planning my meals at the start of the week, and see how that goes...

My husband and I eat very differently but my kids follow whoever is making the meal (1.5 years and 3). I just started going back to school full time and I generally made everything from scratch. I'm talking using dry beans rather than canned, making my own tortillas, veggie burgers etc... between spending time with my kids, school work etc... I've been finding I'm too exhausted to cook. I'm constantly busy but not exercising so all that translates to less energy to get things done. So it's not really one thing but it's a cycle of a lot of things.

For me, it's the temptation to eat junk foods. I've been eating junk foods since I was small. I really find it hard to resist such food. I hope I can avoid it this time.

The biggest problem I have is time. I work 3-11, so fast and processed foods are a lot more convenient than taking the time too prepare food properly. Right now I'm working on just making good food choices.

@mistakenglance Yes, junk food can be so tempting. I find it's best not to have it around so you don't get tempted

@roninbear Wow, what do you do working so late? I used to work once as a bartender and my shifts during the weekend were crazy late.... I would get home by 5 AM, sleep until 5 PM, then go to work again.. my entire body was out of whack during that time period.

Heh, I'm a nurse. Working late just comes with it. I work at a county jail, and all the interesting stuff happens on 3-11 :p

Trying to get my family to eat healthy with me. My husband is too busy for breakfast, so he gets fruit smoothies. My kids don't always eat their veggies. But we keep trying.

For me I find two things really challenging.

First is my boyfriend :) He eats huge portions and never follows a recipe so I can't calculate the calories. I also feel guilty if I don't eat all the he gives me. I broke my wrist recently and he's been doing all the cooking. Can't wait to get my cast off!!!

The second thing is that, although I love cooking from scratch, I find it never tastes as nice as high calorie foods. To overcome this I'm just going to keep trying more and more recipes until I find really tasty ones!

I have the hardest time avoiding junk foods as well. Today I decided I would not eat any junk food, and I managed to stick to it! I'll be taking this one day at a time.

Avoiding sugar! It's in everything. You have to read labels very carefully to find items with the lowest amounts of sugar. It's amazing how much sugar does into things you don't think of as sugary, like pizza! Pizza is loaded with sugar. Crazy.

Check out the New York Times health section, they have great healthy recipes and the photography makes me salivate! It's where I like to start for food ideas.

Hardest thing for me? I love to cook and bake. And I want to eat EVERYTHING. That won't kill me, anyway. Then I photograph it sometimes, and sometimes put that with a recipe online... then I get hungry again. lol
And, of course, I have to test a recipe when some one asks if a thing will work, or wants a recipe conversion...
    I'm just... a wimp. That's all. rofl

Like nylonthread said, pizza is full of sugar! It's the tomato sauce they use mostly. I don't know what they put in it, but it ain't your momma's sauce! And I'm a total sucker for pizza.
The hardest thing for me is the temptation. Absolutely everywhere. It's hard for me to resist things that are around me. I do awesome when there's nothing to eat except healthy stuff, but when I have to make a decision, it's all downhill.

SUGAR! I always want sugar! And then after I eat sugar I want something salty... and it's just a very bad cycle! Arg!!!

I'm the worst with junk food and Coke. If it's near me, I have the hardest time saying no. I don't allow my fiance to buy it because I know I can't resist it. I snuck in a few jellybeans yesterday...delicious? Yes. Totally regretted? Definitely.

Anyone have any suggestions on losing that extra "stuff" from your midsection after having a baby? I'm losing weight but of course not where I want it to come from.

I do 35-40 of my stair master every Monday-Friday and am seeing good results but weight isn't shedding off my stomach like I would like.

    Got any ideas?
