Ok, I need some help and encouragement before I just give up. I have being staying within the 1200 calorie limit this app set for me (the same amount that it set last time and worked just fine), plus have been walking 2-3 miles a day, and cut my Coke intake in half, been drinking a lot of water, and I have GAINED 3 pounds in two weeks! This doesn't make sense, every day it goes up a little more. I don't get it, and it makes me just want to give up.I can't handle the disappointment every morning!

Last summer I lost my "steriod weight" (went on them briefly for an allergic reaction, made me eat EVERYTHING in sight) using this app. Went from 140 to 123 in about a month and a half. Cutting back on the soda helped too, I carry a lot of water weight when I drink too much of it. Had never felt better about myself or looked better. Since then I hover between 123-127. This past week I hit 129.5, so back on the app plus RUNNING for the first time in my life to get back on track!

How strenuous is your exercise? Don't use a scale to determine your progress, use a measuring tape! Muscle is heavier than fat, remember! And definitely don't weigh yourself every morning, as your weight will fluctuate due to water, hormones, etc.

(sorry for the double post there >.<)

Try taking measurements instead of just keeping track of your weight. It takes a bit longer to notice a difference with inches, so you have to hang in there to see changes. Any clothes feeling looser? Maybe it's partially muscle gain?

Don't give up on yourself!! Other than calories, how is your carb intake? Are you getting sufficient protein as well?

(Going to be a 3 parter!) My morning can of Coke pretty much puts me over the daily limit with sugar and carbs, but as to me it's my "morning coffee", it's not going anywhere anytime soon. I went from drinking nothing BUT soda all day (usually around 5 or so) to my morning can and usually one more later in the day, with water the rest of the time.

Protein has been upped since I realized I could eat a steak or porkchop and not "blow" my calories for the day and still be full! My exercise is walking, 2-3 miles around 3.5mph average. Should be good fat burning rate, not muscle building! My problem area is my middle, it's where I feel the gain when I put weight on and so far it's not looking/feeling any better.

I am just so frustrated that the last time I did this last year, the weight fell off within a month and that was 17 pounds! This was only supposed to be 6 and instead of losing, I'm GAINING, even though I added exercise to my routine instead of just calorie restriction.

Do you eat anything for breakfast? It is imperative to eat breakfast in order to kick start your metabolism for the day, then to continue fueling the fire by having a healthy snack (100 cal) every 2 to 3 hours. This is proven to get your body into a fat burning mode, and keep it there by having 5-6 meals daily

The sugar overload in the morning may be the culprit. What if you did half a can in the morning and save the other half for lunch, for example.

Yeah, I would say even though it's hard, the Coke has to go. Try drinking coffee or tea instead - no calories, no sugar. Also, drop your carbs and raise your protein from what the site sets up for you. All of that should help.

Keep in mind a woman's weight can fluctuate up and down by up to 10 lbs within a "cycle", not just at period time but also ovulation. The best way to prevent this is by drinking lots of water, (making sure that you're hydrated at all times), and mild to moderate cardio for at least 10 minutes every day. :) Add that to what you're doing now, and you should be golden :) Don't give up on yourself! You're worth the effort you put in!

I agree with the above! Also, it may be difficult to do but only weigh yourself once a week, at the same time using the same scale. Avoid the scale between weigh ins as our body weight can fluctuate from one day to the next (water weight, menstrual cycle, sleep, stress). Emotionally and mentally this can affect your focus.

I noticed the calorie limit that this app set for me was WAY to low.. Half of what I normally consume in a day. Too few calories can put you into starvation mode, and make you gain weight. I read that you shouldn't reduce your caloric intake by more than a thousand to keep this from happening, maybe this helps?

I know it's hard, but if the Coke is hard to kick, switch to Zero or Diet at the very least.

Good luck with running. I've noticed that I'm seeing a difference now that I do it 3 times a week.
