Love MAYO but don't love the calories and fat? Want to try something healthier that has just as good a taste? Try mashed avocado with a little salt and pepper to taste and feel free to add anything else to it! Avocado is a great fruit (yes its a fruit) to have un any diet! Research it for yourself to find out all the great benefits it has! Like good guacamole, it won't need anything more. YUM!

Trying to avoid craving those naughty treats and snacks? Try telling yourself this, out loud, and look at each craving when you say it: "I can have it, but I don't want it." Keep to it and just watch your cravings go down! It's been VERY successful for me! :)

Healthy Chef Tip: Making your own popcorn at home (even with butter) is less calories, better for you, and has more whole grain than store bought popcorn! Get creative and add Pizza Seasonings, Curry Powder, or Cinnamon (for a sweet tooth) and add a little pizazz to your next movie snack! You'll never buy the stuff at the store again!

Just as a suggestion: I do Curves and Zumba classes each week as well as go and relax in a hydration pod for 40 min every time afterwards. Both workouts work my entire body at varying resistances, so how exactly could I Log that? Perhaps we should have a "make your own workout" tracker based on approx calories burned and time? I burn about 600+ calories at Curves and Zumba and burn an additional 300+ at the hydration pod. Anyone else I've any ideas? Thanks!

Really good idea. I did the fast a while ago and it helped me a lot. I wasn't in quite the dire situation the guy on the show was in but I needed to get back on track health-wise. I have a challenge that encourages me to juice twice a week now.

Thank you! I am not in the same situation as Joe Cross or the Trucker he helps, but I know that for a long time I've been eating the wrong things and it's sticking to me. I'm glad that you see the health benefits if the Fast and are still juicing! It's good to do a 7-10 day juice face every 4-6 months to reset your body and cleanse it from toxins.

      ChefMarieCM370 days ago

Just simply switching to a healthy diet won't give your body a chance to reap all the benefits of the food your eating because the toxins are preventing them from really working their magic. You may get some results, but not the results you could get from them if you were to do a juice fast first! :)Whether you have have great eating habits or not, just cleansing your body from the air you breathe is good for you! Keep on it!

low fat is always an option, I don't know if you can make it at home but if you're used to shop bought mayo you'd never know the difference. :)

You can definitely make your own mayo at home! That's one of the first things I learned in Culinary School and it's very easy. It's a bit of an arm workout, and you only want to make enough mayo for you and your family to last a week and a half. Seal it up good and it will last 10 days in the fridge.

@ChefMarieCM Hey Marie, just read in your blog your dream is to start a restaurant.. that's so cool! what type of restaurant do you want to start someday?

Hi Aikawa! I'm thinking about opening a culinary academy someday and the restaurant would be on site and would be a fusion style restaurant. That means different cuisines on one menu so that the students can learn how to cook a little of everything.

Broccoli soup? I've never tried, but I might give your recipe a try this weekend!

    • img

      ChefMarieCM451 days ago

It's great! Just make sure that the broccoli is pureed very well or it'll be chancy like baby food and that's not very appetizing.
