alright, I'm going to get serious about this; once I don't use this site for a few days I tend to forget about it. I will probably go way over my goal today as I have a wedding today so starting tomorrow I'm going to try to stay under all the recommended levels. Any support is appreciated

does anyone know if there's a way to set a goal weight on here, like if I wanted to lose a certain number of lbs in a certain number of weeks, or anything on the exercise end as well?

ugh, gave in to cravings for junk fast food the other day...I was going good for a few days but then the cravings just hit and couldn't take it. Today's been good so far...any suggestions on how to handle the hunger games?

Day 3 with no order out/fast food, eating in the break room instead. I had a gift card and used a little of the remainining balance it had left to get my coworkers a gift, they chose specialty coffees from burger king, had extra on the gift card, and still didn't give in.

Dang, day 2 and already seeing a drastic improvement in calories taken in and calories burned. Still got room to grow though. Let's hope I can make the good parts of this week a habit instead of a one-week deal.

any suggestion on a filling drink for lunch? looks like juice is putting the sugar level too high. There's always water.

So I just started using slimkicker, and I'm a bit confused, I have a calorie limit which I'm under, but I typically eat 1 serving special k every morning, which isn't that many calories (maybe 100-110 depending on flavor), and slimkicker tells me to eat a three-egg omelete with sausage and feta cheese instead of cereal because it's more filling...but wouldn't that put me very close, if not over, my calorie limit, assuming I'm eating lunch and dinner that day too?

You can do it! The new week is nearly here - I hope you can stay motivated and focused with ease =) I'm similar in that I keep forgetting to log but I'm going to make a bigger effort this week too =) good luck!

You can do anything that you set your mind to! It's easy to forget to log, especially when life gets busy but try to remember that in the long run logging helps. I just checked today and I started this three months ago and have lost thirty pounds. If I can do it, so can you! I'm here if you need support or a cheer.

I agree, that is one of the most difficult parts of getting healthier. I am going to focus on achievable baby steps.

For lunch I pack healthy things from home and then I leave my money in my car so I won't be tempted to buy anything. It has worked so far for me.

You can set a goal for your weight in the initial settings area, but I'm not sure if you can do it in a set time.

I would highly suggest starting with writing down your health goals. Start with 1 week goal(s), then 1 month, then 3 months, then long term. Post these goals on the frig, at work, or wherever you'll see them most regularly. Remove all temptation from the house (as best you can)...clean out the junk food, sweets, etc. I have successfully lost 23 lbs in 3 months (and have get if off) with the Take Shape for Life Program. I'm now a health coach helping others achieve the same success.

thanks...i'm not really looking to lose weight...more maintain weight (maybe lose a little bit) and get more toned, so I def think the exercise challenges are more important for me and by seeing what I am eating right now I can see what causes weight gain and where I can eliminate some things and make some switches...

Same here, it stinks :( basically my only suggestion is to not let it totally derail you- one slip, no matter how much, is not the end of the world- you've just got to tell yourself that tomorrow will be better. You can do it

What I have found is that if you actually plan one meal a week to be a splurge, you don't feel the need to cheat as much. Also, try health-bent.com. They have a lot of comfort foods done super healthy, so it makes it easier to stay on track. They have stuff like orange chicken (which is sooooo good) and meat loaf. The great thing is, none of this is actually a cheat meal. You stay on track with almost everything, and they actually tell you if a recipe is a bit of a splurge.

I found that a modified smoothie with non-fat Greek yogurt, some fresh berries, a handful of natural raw almonds and whatever sweetner you like makes a quick me up and doesnt break the bank on any particular measurement. If you are still hungry after that, add an avacado....that is also energy generating and not as bad for you as I thought. Good luck

almond milk - very low in sugar, fat and carbs. mixes well with other stuff too.

Juice is empty calories - if you want to drink something instead of eating, try tomato juice or a slimming shake. But food is better! Why not try a soup?

    • img

      Mlssufan011971 days ago

Right, I mean I'm just starting so all I'm doing this week is inputting what I am currently eating and seeing where I'm at, and increasing exercise (the challenge game seems to be good for me). What kind of soup? Tomato? See, the problem is that organic breaks my bank, and things like campbell's and generic tend to overload on sodium. But subbing vegetables in for most things has been key. I ate pretty unhealthy before that.

Yes, I think it's just a general suggestion that they give to everyone that doesn't take into consideration your individual needs. I would ignore it if I were you, BUT, the advice to eat protein is really good. Try having greek yogurt with some fruit for breakfast instead of cereal and see how you feel. I also have a recipe for omelette on my site which is very filling and under 200 calories: http://foodfashfit.com/2012/08/15/lunch-for-under-200-calories/.

      TeresaM1971 days ago

I've been on 1200 calories since I've been on here, and I can easily fit a 2-egg omelette with some meat and veggies in that. Their suggestion is rather excessive but for a larger guy or something it might be fine. Special K is not really that good for you, all marketing aside. Protein is better in the morning.

Teresa, how do you fit the two eggs in without blowing your cholesterol? I can easily fit it in when it comes to everything else, but two eggs put me WAY beyond my cholesterol limit.
