The exercise points are very effective as an incentive. For instance, it is extremely windy today. I am on the fence about bicycling the 8+ mile route to the next farther train station...but 35 or 40 points if I do? Makes it very very attractive, despite the ferocious headwind.

Level 4! And more mindful of food choices (type and portion size) and more consistent with exercising.

Oh, bummer. I didn't realize I had to click the "I did this" button when I completed challenges, and have "quit" two of the challenges I completed without collecting the badge and points. Boo! (On the plus side, I modified my behavior through the challenge, so ultimately, it is a win.)

Three days of getting my act together (eating well, eschewing junk food/empty calories, including vegetables, adding in a lengthy bike ride, and taking a short break in the evening for "me time") and I'm feeling GREAT. I'd forgotten how this "I feel HEALTHY!" feeling makes the work day less stressful and burdensome.

I reached Level 2! Woo! (I know this is simple to do, but am delighted to have the instant reward.)

Hauled myself out of bed when the alarm went off at 5:50 a.m. (instead of hitting snooze and reading for so long I end up having to drive to work), took the early train and got off one station early, and did an 8-mile bike ride for the last leg in to work. This is going to be the new routine.

You, too, Riko! And now onto 6! I am closing in on two month-long challenges I set for myself. I joined Slimkicker because my cholesterol is 240 and I'm trying to reduce it (if I can) without medication. So the first challenge was to not eat cheese, eggs, beef, shellfish for a month. And I've done it! I'm going to set the same challenge for the next two months and then have the bloodwork done again and see if my cholesterol changes!

The other month-long challenge I set myself was to take my supplements (Vitamin D drops, fish oil) for a month. It's another constant I'm going to challenge each month since Slimkicker is a great place for reminding me to do something every day!

@Riko Riko, I think you and I may have very similar situations! (I just read a post on the one of the boards.) I am over 50 (actually near 57 now) and I am on level 4. Would love to befriend you!

Sure thing! I'll take all the help and encouragement and cheering and positive reinforcement that I can get.

And now you are on my feed, with TONS of points, I can see you will give me added incentive. I'm fine with other people having more points in a week--things go up and down, but it is also added incentive to try to be at least on the top three on my own leaderboard.

I mainly get points because of eating lots of leafy greens, lots of vegetables, lots of healthy protein (almonds) and taking up a few challenges. Although I would love to lose weight, my primary goal here on Slimkicker is to watch my cholesterol.

I've set a challenge for myself for the month to not eat red meat, shellfish and to limit weekly intake of cheese and eggs to twice a week at the most. I have found that I have been able to wean off cheese and eggs completely: never thought I'd be able to give up cheese! The challenges are a great feature for me, particularly that you can make up your own challenge for yourself!

Riko - way to look on the positive side! I'm so sorry you missed out on your badges, though, but you can re-do them and claim your badges still. It'll just take you a little longer. Be encouraged!
