I am able to fit into a pair of pants I haven't worn in a couple of years! Yay!

Yay! Have my hand in a hard cast now and I feel like I can do more- which makes it easier to get back into the tracking groove, and back to regular activity.
A little time makes everything better!

One week post-op. I feel like I've lost ground. At least the weather is sunny &cool, so I can enjoy a nice walk.
Finishing challenges brought me to level 11 :) - good thing, too, cuz I'll be limited to core, legs and some cardio while hand heals for a couple months. Dang! Really enjoyed weight machines Monday,too- rowed 50#-sounds small but felt big. ;)
Trying to enter yesterday's food- no matter how many times I try to select May 15, it only comes up as today's. Admin, please assist, thank you very much! hand surgery yesterday makes this tricky and narcotics will make me forget if I wait to try again tomorrow. (many many thanks)
Personal trainer beatdown number two complete!
Ran my sprints today, and sort of liked it! Knees feel pretty good! And... pulled out the shorts I bought before spring break this year, and they are waaay big- swimming, in fact- Yippee! Personal trainer day tomorrow- this is a great Mother's day. :) Happy day to all the SK moms out there!
Did my weight training at home today as prescribed by personal trainer, and SK tells me that I have done too much and does not continue to give points. **That's** disappointing.
Okay, still sore after personal trainer on Monday, but hiked & hauled brush yesterday, then forced myself onto treadmill today. Walking was fine, so I tried a little jog. That felt fine, too... so I hit full on sprints >8mph, and it didn't kill me!! five sets between 8.1 & 8.5 mph for 45 seconds each- and I did not despise it one bit, LOL!
I get the pleasure of going on a field trip with my twins today- great weather, dry air, blue sky, cool temps- pulling invasive species from local recreation areas. :D
I find it hilarious that I can actually "go over" on fiber.
Completed my first full, smackdown hour with personal trainer. Major rubber limbs afterward.
Are there any other mid 40s women staying under their parameters (only rarely exceeding on protein, almost never on fats, and never on carbs) finding that weight loss is not as expected? I am wondering if this is a sure- fire formula for everyone? I am thinking of cutting my fat intake and increasing the carbs via fruit & see what happens. My clothes fit differently, but I think I'd be likely at this point to credit extra exercise. Individual tweaking needed here!
Oops! Not even pink on the protein, I am in the red. Some days I'm just hungry for a little more.
Starting with a personal trainer evaluation tomorrow! So excited!
does anyone know why planks are listed with pounds and reps? I do 4 sets of 1 minute each, no weights though. I alternate standard prone plank like you do in yoga, then flip over to a supine plank ( on heels rather than toes). I do not know how to record these, and have been shorting myself :(
I did not detest my sprints today! Yay! And knees feel very okay, too!
Aiyiyi- a wedding this past weekend- I had a slice of cake ( beef,&vegs for dinner). Later at home had a slice of pizza--this was a no no- asthma inhalersneeded for the last two days. The takeaway is that now I know to *definitely* avoid wheat. Sprints will have to wait, but back on track with weights :)!
Just broke into level 5 after completing a challenge- I hear it gets more difficult to level up soon!
That's AWESOME! Keep up the great work!
That's awesome!!! Keep it up!!!
Thanks to all of you! I am really liking this elliptical trainer!
That is so exciting ;) yay!!!
@TuDisQuoi you are crushing it! i thought i was active until i came across you:) awesome work!
Thanks, Tsygan, the encouragement is much appreciated.
Nice job! And, good luck with the healing process from the hand surgery!
Thanks,to you both!
You have to press "change the date" to make it go! SO frustrating!
thanks, but there is a first line edit function wherein you can access the dropdown menu under the date selection- that's what's not working for me- but i will try the backdoor method :) !
Weird... I can't tell what's wrong - was able to add an item for that date. If you can lend me your password, I can perhaps dig into it further. This is for the website, right?
Good for you! How did you find your personal trainer? I will be relocating in a month (to a different state) and I am hoping to find one :)
Excuse any lack of conventions here i am typong w nondominant hand as had surgery on dominant hand today- thru nurse practitoner-a prescriber medical fitness plan through hubby's benefits for my arthritis. try any medical sports facility associated with orthopedic practice or hospital. also check local gyms, which i will do once allotted numbers of visits are depleted. i am really liking it & have high hopes, so best of luck on your quest!
That is so awesome! Great job!!
Thanks very much! Funny, the scale isn't too encouraging, though, LOL!
Strange, I thought we got rid of that... I'll try and change that.
Thank you soooo very much!!
Wow, very nice!
Well, thanks- we'll see how it goes this weekend, LOL!
Where are you going?
We went to a local wildlife sanctuary & large park/sports complex & cleared some invasive species- buckthorn (wow, hauled a lot of brush), garlic mustard, &dame's rocket.
Yeah, me too. Bright red bar and everything. I think I'll *know* if I actually overdo it on fiber.
No doubt! @ kac038--I think *everybody around* will know if somebody overdoes it on fiber. Lol
Nice! I head out for my smackdown in about a half-hour.
Thanks, folks! I am planning to kick my own 46 yr old derriere!
Sorry, I'm early 30s reporting here, but I have to report a drastic reduction in my ability to lose and maintain weight loss that I've noted since losing weight in my early 20s as compared to now. I'm told it only gets worse.
Mid 40's and I have lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks of doing this. Not exactly earth shattering but I feel good and I don't feel deprived. I faithfully log my food but frequently go over in carbs and sugar. Sometimes I go over in protein but rarely do I ever go over fat. Out of 14 days, I went over my calories 4 times ( once significantly!). I think what's saving me is my Bikram practice and the large amount of walking I do. Hang in there!
I'd seriously re-think what you are planning. Carbs add weight. Protein and good fats actually lose weight. If you are around peri-menopause, it is just a time of difficult weight loss. Just accept the fact that it was easy when we were 20, but it is more difficult now. I did find that weight loss became easier once menopause was over.
Thanks, ladies, and Moxie12- sigh- one month and 4lbs down... though middle is definitely flatter, I just feel like it should be more. Maybe just the beginning is slow?
Had personal trainer eval last week & start first session on Monday. I hope that will help. I do no grains, just thought to allow a second ( or some days first) serving of fruit to fill.
I hit RED for the first time yesterday!!! Mine was cholesterol due to eggs!!! That was a shocker! Ooooopppppppsssss is right LOL
I say don't sweat it once in a while! :)
Wow! Well done!
Way to go! :)
way to crush it!
Thanks, all! Those level 5+ challenges can really rack up the points. :)
Everything that doesn't involve weights I just track it with 0
You put your own weight as it is harder for a heavier person rather than lighter. It means that the heavier person would burn more calories doing plank than the lighter one. Plank does not involve weights itself at all but you can do advanced planks or for beginners, good luck!!'
Same thing for pushups...I use my body weight....
@tercerero Hi, I am hoping you can offer some advice on how to log your sprints accurately- earlier in the week I looked for both sprints and interval running to no avail. Also, do you have any recommendations to treat & avoid shin splints? Thanks a ton!
I just always enter in X minutes of running. They don't seem to have more options than that. My advice for avoiding shin splits is more preventative. Go to a local shoe shop/running shop and ask for them to analyze your gait and step. They'll hopefully offer you more specific advice for choosing the very best shoe for you. Replace your shoes often (every 3-4 months for me) so you're always running on some cushion. Most importantly, don't up your weekly mileage by more than 10% a week.
My ortho told me to get cushioned shoes, and I have a pair of Asics that I really like. I have been told that stretching prior is a panacea, but have not found it to be overwhelmingly helpful. I think your suggestion to increase slowly makes a lot of sense, as I find discomfort often occurs with a too much, too soon event.
