I had the most amazing breakfast today! Duck eggs, poblano peppers, mushrooms, a clove of garlic, tomatoes! It was so yummy! And so good for me! This is the first time I've ever woken up early enough on a weekday to make breakfast and it was so worth it. I am completely stuffed and I have so much energy and I am so happy.

OMG! I just realized that I met my first goal this last weekend! My first goal was to be able to walk for 1 hour. I walked for about 3 hours in one go on Saturday! Wow! On to my next goal! Now I must sign up for Belly dancing classes! Woo!
I walked 4 miles today. I didn't even know I was capable of that. Considering that 2 months ago I could barely walk for 10 minutes, I think that I have done well. I'm not meeting my weight loss goals as fast as I had hoped, but I feel so much better.
It's so much easier to stay in my target calorie range when I'm happy. And when I have fun projects. Today I roasted 2 lbs of coffee at home. A 1/2 cup at a time since all I have is a popcorn popper. But I had a great time and now I have home roasted coffee to bring to work and share with the co-workers!

Hey! On the upside, I just discovered that Half & Half isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was. Have a 1/4 cup of Half & Half in my Americano and I'm totally fine with that. Not an every day sort of thing, but perfectly valid for day of head-pounding misery.
Have the worst migraine ever today. So after years of successfully controlling them, why are them coming back now? I'm wondering if it's my 200 calorie healthy choice meal. I'm not used to eating processed foods. Whatever the reason, I'm on my 6th cup of coffee trying to bring this stupid thing under control.
Walking in my Vibram Five Fingers is so much harder than walking in regular shoes. I feel like I'm getting twice the work out for the same distance. Wow.
Bought a Pinback song (Penelope) as a reward for reaching level 4. This last week has been hard and discouraging, but I still lost my 2 pounds.
I have decided to start lifting weights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so that I will burn through my fat faster.
Having a rough time of it today. Want to just sit and mope, but I tackled the huge hill across the street from my house anyway. Still want to sit and mope, but at least I climbed that freaking hill.
I had a very enjoyable walk in my neighborhood. I can do this. It's so much easier to go on walks during my workdays. But I can do this on weekends too. And I feel good. I like my daily walks!
I bought a cadbury creme egg today, but after my 2nd walk today, I was able to put it away in a drawer and I have no desire for it anymore. And I was able to walk a whole 45 minutes for my second walk today! I am so happy. My feet are killing me, but it was worth it.
My goals: 1. Be able to walk for 1 hour. 2. Be able to Belly Dance for 1 hour. 3. Weigh in under 200 lbs. 4. Go horse back riding again. I miss horses so much and I just can't justify riding when I weigh this much.
10 days ago it was killing me to walk for 10 minutes. Today I went on 2 walks. The 1st for 13 minutes and the 2nd for 26 minutes. I am so amazed at the difference. I feel so much better. I can feel my blood flowing better. I feel more energetic. It's awesome.
Last week it was difficult for me to walk slowly for the entire time of one of my 10 minute breaks. Now I'm walking quickly twice a day and both times for longer than 10 minutes and I feel much, much better. Just stick with it. It's worth it.
For just over a week, I've been going on 10 minute walks every day. Today is the first day that my shins didn't hurt because of the walk. And I feel so great that I'm about to go on another 10 minute walk! And I lost 4 pounds this week!
Turned down homemade cake that one of my co-workers brought in. Had to tell her that I wouldn't be able to have any of the one she'll be bringing in tomorrow. On the other hand, I was inspired to bake homemade banana bread that is extremely low fat and low sugar!
Great job! Where did you manage to find duck eggs?
Bought them at my local food co-op this time. Other sources include craigslist and a friend of a friend of a friend with ducks. Eventually I will raise my own ducks. Allergic to chicken eggs and I love eggs. Ducks are the answer.
I'll have to look them up -- we use soy-free chicken eggs, but some variety would be welcome. Thanks for the idea!
Woooooooo! Well done you!!!
:D this is fantastic.
Awesome! This is why the scale is so much less important than other factors!
That is fantastic! I think your right that healthy is a first priority. Something a lot of people don't realize is as you replace fat with muscle, your weight may not drop as fast because muscle weighs more than fat. Concentrate on healthy and the rest will just fall in place :)
That is amazing! Congratulations.
Great going! Remember: it's the journey that counts not the destination. You're on the right track. Good for you :))
Wow, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is the "healthy" choice meal. Some of the diet foods I have seen are so full of additives that it is shocking!
I hope that the coffee soon works for you, and kudos on the Half & Half discovery.
Ooh processed poison. Also make sure you are well hydrated. If you can I.d. Your triggers or recognize new ones, that's great I used to get them a lot - mostly in my 30s. Best of luck to you. Lmk if you want to explore more.
Thank you! I will be exploring other lunch options. Seems that it's starting to come under control finally. I can actually focus on things and was able to get a 20 minute walk in today! Improvement.
they look like the sole are thin, do you feel the stones more?
Yes. Very much so. But they also force you to walk the way we evolved to walk. No more heel striking like we can get away with in tennis shoes. It's essentially the same as walking around barefoot, only with the shoes, you have a thin, protective barrier. And you get all the benefits of being able to use your feet the way we are supposed to.
2 pounds?? Wow that's amazing! Keep it up! Last week was a very bad week for me, but choosing emotional challenges really helped me raised my morale. Maybe you could give it a try? Good luck!
love that song! best of luck getting to your next reward!
penelope is one of my jams. saw pinback live back in 2005, incredible show. great motivation, can't wait to hear what your next song will be!
I've been wanting to start weight lifting too-I just don't know exactly what to do-are there like routines? Or just pick up, put down over an over again? If u have a routine I would so appreciate of u could share it!
From what I've read, 3 days a week for an hour each day is the most effective. I'm going to be doing bench presses (using an exercise ball for my bench), Squats with weights, deadlifts (box full of books), bent over row and upright barbell row.
@hajpaj78 That's a great idea! @SarahV--I kind of wish they had videos on here to show how to do weight training properly--I try but I'm still not completely sure I'm doing it right. Some kind of basic training on how to weight train would be v. helpful.
I've been using this site. Here's how to properly do a dead lift: http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/GluteusMaximus/BBDeadlift.html
I've been having to make some alterations since I don't have a bench (exercise ball) and I don't have traditional weights (books, jugs of water, etc).

but you did it! you are victor. so reward yourself by sitting (but no moping--why? because you did it! ) :)
@hajpaj78 thnx for accepting :)
good willpower :)
Nicely done. :)
Keep up the good work.
Good luck with your goals! :)
You're obtain just on the simple fact that not only do you have goals, more so, A. because you wrote them down and B. WE can all hold you accountable. Here's to our cause!
Way to go!
That's great, congratulations!
That is how I was. It feels good to get some exercise. Way to go for you!!!!
I experienced the same when I got my elliptical a couple months ago, isn't that neat? At first I had trouble maintaining even 5 miles an hour, now I am always over 6, often pushing 7. And I've started bumping up the resistance too. Progress!
Way to go!!
Delish! I love banana bread!
You want the recipe? It's really simple.
For one loaf or 10 servings:
1 oz non fat buttermilk
6 oz non fat vanilla yogurt
Blend all this together and then gradually add:
1 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
add stevia until the batter is sweet enough for you
Bake in a bread pan for about one hour @ 350 degrees. To test to see if it's done, insert a clean butter knife into the center of the loaf. If it comes out clean, the bread is done. If it comes out a little goey, give it another 15 minutes or so.
