I was out most of the day and I was tempted to have a Black & Blue Burger with fries but wisely chose the salad bar and made very wise choices staying in my ranges for everything, wheeeehhhh, missed a big FAT bullet there. Now I get to have a wonderful healthy dinner of chicken breast, cottage cheese and fresh home grown tomatoes. Only problem is I will be over on sodium and under on fiber today.

We have so many things to do today we are going to be away from home most of the day. I am a little concerned about my food choices. I have good willpower when I am at home or out running errands but this will be a true test for me. Well at least my husband is very supportive of my weight loss challenges and we tend to eat healthy so I'm probably just worrying for nothing.

I let myself eat too much chocolate today and now I have a headache and I'm nauseous! So guess my body is sending me a message by fighting back, I think I am glad. I'm not sure why I would do this to myself since I am so happy I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. Oh well, tomorrow is another day...

I tried Chia Seed today. My friend made it into a gel by putting 3 tablespoons of seed into 2 cups of water. We put it in our fruit smoothies. It has no taste of its own but it's packed with nutrients. She also said when she used the dry seed in a smoothie it acted as a thickener. I am anxious to try this way also... I love to try new things, well most new things, there are still some foods I cannot even imagine putting in my mouth, eeeewwwwwwyyyyy

I challenged myself to replace sugar with truvia in my coffee and I did. The surprising thing it has done is I am drinking much less coffee now.

I loaded up my 2 grand kids in their stroller at 8am and went for a walk this morning for 45 minutes. I was determined I had to get a walk in before the temperature could stop me like it has for the last week. It was 104 degrees today. Boy am I glad I made myself do it. Hopefully I am back on track for walking...

Week 1 down~ Goal 1 met~Woo-Hoo!!! So I just weighed in and I am down 0.8lb. Since I haven't been trying this week I am guessing just logging honestly has unconsciously made me think at least a little before I eat something....Hey what ever it takes!!!!

Tomorrow is my weigh-in day. What that means for me at this point is I will meet my week 1 goal to evaluate my past week of food choices and commit to the changes I need to make. I don't expect to have lost any weight but that is okay with me since this is week 1 and my goal was to log honestly. I'm not sure how to see the prior days of my food log?

My carbs and sugar are way over but it is because I eat a lot of fruit. I need to know if that is a bad thing. It seems to me eating fruit shouldn't be a bad thing...Weight Watchers used to say none of us were there because we ate ate too much fruit and vegetables????

My inspiration for today is family. I want to be able to be the positive influence for my children and grand children that I had from my mom and grandma. If I am here but not healthy and able to participate in their lives, due to not caring for myself when I could and should have, I would be very disappointed in myself.

Had a different sort of day eating. I have the grand kids for till tomorrow and decided to have a doughnut breakfast since none of us eat them normally. Amazed still I controlled my calories for the day! I do know that my nutrition suffered today as a result of my choices but now it is behind me and tomorrow is another day.

I think it's impossible to meet every target every day, too much planning if nothing else - but you sort of know if you're hitting them on average and that's the important thing. Good job avoiding the burger :)

Good to hear about the no taste thing - that's been my only hesitation about putting it in our morning green smoothies! We have flaxseed meal in them at the moment but when this packet is finished it's chia all the way! A friend said she loved having it in the fridge because it looks like frogspawn and grosses people out...!

Yes you do have to be able to handle the visual ha-ha But I love tapioca so I just told myself it's a version of tapioca. I also use almonds and Oatmel in mine and they just add a thickness with a crunch I like

I mix my chia seeds with almond milk and chocolate syrup and I looove it! I think of them as crunchier variation of tapioca too.

      itzallaboutme2783 days ago

Chia seeds are believed to be a powerful source of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and minerals like calcium, magnesium, copper, and iron, to name a few. Also a good source of protein. I am still learning about it and so far I like what I am reading.

Good job! I do think that logging affects your choices whether you consciously notice it or not :)

    • img

      JennH2O2790 days ago

Agreed. I pay more attention when I plan on coming on here and logging. Also, I avoid dressings and added things that I will have to log separately to save me some work and in turn saves me calories. Keep your positive attitude too! That is so important and has a huge impact on perspective and success.

I've looked into this because I eat a lot of fruit too (and many vegetables also have considerable amounts of sugar). There seem to be a lot of opinions out there, but the one thing everybody agrees on is that women should not have more than 24 grams of *added* sugar in a day. So I figure as long as I stay under that amount for added sugar, it's okay if I go over because of fruits, vegetables, and dairy.

    • img

      Dalbuc2793 days ago

I don't worry about it at all if it is in fruits or veggies. I'll blow past that limit if I have a banana at breakfast, eat some berries at lunch and peaches at dinner. That's not unhealthy though.

      cdaily2793 days ago

Good point @RBH'sMomma about no more than 25 grams of added sugars

resa13: I look at all my numbers on the tracker and subtract the sugar from fruits and veggi's to be sure I didn't go over my added sugar limit.
