[1] In the fire he stood, his hands upon the iron. And Brodin came unto him and said [2] "I tell you verily, say unto thy squat rack "be light", and it shall be defeated. Say unto thy leg press "be moveable" and it shall be moved. [3] For all things are possible with Swole, and through Brodin your shepherd. [4] Through Brodin you have the power to trample unmovable iron and bend it to your will as you would your soul. (The Book of Quad 9:1-4)

We just tried out our "Viking Raid" circuit training for the first time today. And damn, was it tough! Rowing half a mile, running half a mile (to the village), circuit-style weight training (battle and raiding, of course), jogging half a mile (back to the ship), and rowing another half mile. Very awesome, and lots of fun.

Just worked out for the first time in almost two months, after graduating, moving, and family visits. Good to know that my squats and deadlifts didn't suffer too badly, we'll see how I do on the bench next time.

Just finished a large portion of homemade (and utterly unauthentic) Huevos Rancheros, and got 40g of protein just for breakfast. I love having time to actually prepare a decent meal in the morning!

Just reached my weight-loss goal today! Lost 20 pounds since March/April, and I'm down to 149.6 pounds! Those last 2-3 pounds were almost impossible to lose, but I finally made it! I haven't been under 150 since my freshman year of college!

Those last two pounds are being quite the pain in the behind. But at least I'm improving my push-ups.

One weekend at my girlfriend's mom's place, and I had to stop logging my food, restart all my challenges, and I probably gained the three pounds I lost right before. Argh.

Just got back from a weekend at my girlfriend's dad's place. I probably gained about 5 pounds these past few days. At least I wasn't short on protein, that much is for certain.

It would be so much easier to keep up with this site if there was an Android app! Sometimes I am not at a computer and don't want to sit down to take the time to log everything! It's a good site, I just don't have the discipline to sit here every day logging stuff....

    • img

      m_ell2875 days ago

I don't think the site is TOO terrible on an Android, just requires a bit of patience. But, I'd definitely be down for an app if it came out!!

      kuehnebe2875 days ago

I remember that after the iOS app came out, the Android app was announced as being in development, but I haven't heard anything since.

      Luna Von2875 days ago

If I didn't have the app on my iPhone I wouldn't be able to keep up! -(y'all will love it!) and when this comes out on Android I'll be able to recommend it to a few of my friends- ill keep an eye out..

@kuehnebe SlimKicker is now back up, after being down for the past day. Our web host (Amazon) was having problems, but it's all fixed now. Because of the downtime, for the next 2 days, we're giving away +20 bonus points for every food you log. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I feel a need for a little more sugar (to allow two fruit) and carbohydrate (some sourdough seeded bread), and therefore a little less fat/protein. I like to live a ratio now (while reducing weight) that will be my ratio for life. I am not in a hurry to reduce weight, slow and steady will do me. Very interested in other views on this, Jo

    • img

      GrizzledAtoms2933 days ago

Depends a lot on your exercising and activity level. Also, if you really want accurate results for you, you should have metabolic testing done... everyone is different. Personally, my carbs, fat, protein are fairly even percentage-wise. I don't worry about cholesterol because I don't consume enough to worry about it. I only record one fruit a day in SK because of the sugar formula. Extra fruit... I eat it, but don't record it.

    • img

      ectoBiologist2933 days ago

Why not start out with 33/33/33, then adjust over time so that you feel your best?

    • img

      kuehnebe2933 days ago

I was considering the 40/30/30, but that would put me at around 175 grams of carbs per day, which seems far too high after having my limit at 120 for a while, as suggested by SlimKicker. 25/40/35 seems pretty good, but I feel that getting 170 grams of protein each day is going to be tough, and spendy. At least until I start buying protein shakes.

    • img

      JoLowe02933 days ago

Thanks for all your advice. I am allowing myself 40/30/30 at present and observe how comfortable it is, and how effective it is for me, Jo

      kuehnebe2950 days ago

The trick is to start early enough during the day, that way you're near-sober when you go to bed, and hangover-free the next day. ;-)

    • img

      JennH2O2950 days ago

Nah, I need the hangover to remind me why I don't do that very often. :) Usually I don't suffer too much since whiskey is like blood in my family. A couple of painkillers and a couple mile run is perfect the morning after, and when I'm really hurting I go to work so that I get two sufferings out of the way at once.
