I was totally expecting to come home from this four day weekend with extra pounds, but I actually lost two! Despite drinking quite a bit and not making the best food choices, hiking through mountains, going on long walks and exploring woods really helped keep me in check.

Ugh. Forbidden by the dentist to exercise for 3-5 days? I feel like a champ today, so oral surgery be damned--I'm going for a bike ride!

Holy crap. This is the least I've weighed since spring of 2011. I've yoyoed a lot between then and now, but this is a good feeling.

Hmm...down five pounds in three days? My body must really dig this fluconazole. Candida, you are bad news bears!

Alright, no more goofing around. Zero gluten, yeast, and sugar of any kind for the next TWO weeks while I'm on this fluconazole. Time to take back my body from that candida monster that's had a hold on me since infancy...

My fancy new smartphone and I are going to be running buddies for certain! I added an extra quarter of a mile on to my run purely for the giggles of watching my little GPS blip move.

It's been AGES since I ran last (I'm talking like April), so I was kind of terrified to see how bad of shape I was in last night when I put my trainers on and hit the road. I made it three quarters of a mile without stopping, which is kind of phenomenal in my book. Guess swimming everyday keeps you pretty fit, eh?

Lost my motivation to keep updating SlimKicker, but!! I've been keeping up with eating + exercising, which is a big deal. Usually when the food logging stops, the weight starts to stick, but I'm still losing gradually.

Staying up until 8 a.m.? Fantastic. Hot yoga with a wine hangover, not so much. Still happy I got my butt in there, regardless!

Today is day 29 of my 60 day Bikram Yoga Challenge. I've lost about twenty pounds so far, and my chiropractor told me my lower back is much, much stronger. Let's hope the next thirty-one days are as successful!

I'm a little creeped out that I've had under 850 calories today, and I'm full + content. I guess when they say doing Bikram yoga diminishes the appetite, they weren't joking!

Gallery opening tonight in the building--my little snack plate I grabbed was low-carb, sugar and even had a decent amount of protein (table water crackers, blackberries, and cheddar!). I thought I was going to crash my afternoon, but I was happily surprised.

After a crummy day in the studio, it was hard work getting my butt in gear and going to hot yoga tonight. But, I did, and now I feel awesome. As a reward to myself (I lost 1.5 pounds since my last check-in AND I avoided the free ice cream social at school today), I bought two of Bikram's books. Can't wait until they get here!

Morning Bikram Yoga followed by a delicious lunch on the back porch. Grilled spicy sweet potatoes and chicken with a nice plop of homemade guacamole, and strawberry banana protein shake--today has been most excellent so far!

Feeling great! The exercise bit is so blood clots aren't dislodged, but after 24 hours, the hole in my jaw is already healing over. I'm assuming the 3-5 day resting period is for people who aren't as healthy/don't heal as fast, aaaand I'm just a rebel (wooooo!).

I feel like a big benefit to Slimkicker is that it makes you more aware, so that if you aren't using it all the time to log, you have still learned what you need to do, and can more easily follow it! Keep it up, whether you are logging or not!

I think having a no-worry day for a friend is totally fine, just find a way to make up for it - like take the stairs, or skip the carb tonight!

Good luck! I love Yoga. The best thing for you both physically and mentally. When you're finished with your challenge you should consider p90x or insanity to really get yourself in shape.

    • img

      m_ell2972 days ago

It is pretty damn fantastic! I'm mainly stuck on it because of the issues I have with a lot of old injuries to my knees/ankles/feet, so it's a lot easier for me to hot yoga as cardio rather than something like Insanity because my body just feels WIPED afterwards D:

    Blanchas 2975 days ago

@m_ell Thanks when I have lost this last 6 pounds I will definately start looking at Yoga as I want to stretch out my shoulders and arms. Does doing it in the heat make you feel faint?

    • img

      m_ell2975 days ago

No, do it now!! It's absolutely amazing. The heat takes something to get used to, the first class I thought I was going to diiiiiiiieeeeee, but you're encouraged to just stay in the room and not necessarily to have to do all of the poses. I'm to the point where the heat barely phases me any more, and it reminds me of that amazing feeling you get when you open a hot oven when you're cold--only it's enveloping your whole body.

      m_ell2975 days ago

I'm definitely not a slim kiddie (I'm sitting in like 240s), and I'd never really consistently done yoga before this, but I love it. I started mainly because of the huge list of injuries I've got make running or other intense cardio painful. My heart rate is jumping up and falling down all the time, and it's a great workout. You learn more than just flexibility, too! Patience, endurance, strength, balance, and self control are all part of the benefits.

    • img

      m_ell2975 days ago

I've gone 26 times in last 26 days (sometimes I'll skip a day and do doubles on another day to make up for it) and I've seen a vast increase in how flexible I am. I'm also craving pretty much nothing but healthy food, as well as eating less. Everyone at my local joint is really sweet and super encouraging, and all I can do is sing their praises. Sorry for writing you a book, but there ya have it!
