What are some cookbooks you use? I've found a lot of recipes online but it's a hassle to try and read them while cooking without wasting the paper to print them out.

I like Chloe's Kitchen but I'm looking for others like it too; I don't want a bunch of recipes to make vegetables taste like meat. I also don't want to have to splurge on a bunch of ingredients I'm only going to use a tiny bit of and never use again.

Robin Roberston's cookbooks rock. I have a few and everything I've made comes out really good.

She also contributes regularly to VegNews Magazine. Here's her website:

I've been wanting to purchase Veganomicon for a while! Do you have that one?

I use the Veganomicon all the time; it's one of my go-to books. I cook out of it at least a couple of times a week typically.

"I've been wanting to purchase Veganomicon for a while! Do you have that one?"

Yes, I sure do! It's an excellent cookbook.

I have most all of my books - cooking and otherwise - in hard copy and in some form of digital media.

I think I have the Veganomicon in a .mobi file which is for the Kindle. If you'd like you can email me stephani.spitzer@gmail.com and I'll be happy to share it with you :)

I like Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian -- obviously not vegan, but a lot of the recipes either are vegan or can be easily adapted. I find some of the other vegan cookbooks too ingredient-heavy and complicated.

I agree, this is one I've been looking to pick up. I love the recipes Mark Bittman has written and found I can usually look up some good vegetarian/vegan inspiration in his old NYTimes cooking column!

Maria Speck's new cookbook, Ancient Grains for Modern Meals is another great source of vegetarian/vegan recipes. Although not strictly vegetarian, there are lots of ideas for incorporating new (and super-healthy!), er, old, grains into your diet.

My all time favorite cookbooks, and the ones I actually use!

'How it all Vegan' by Sarah Kramer - a great all-round vegan cookbook full of useful stuff for new vegans including nutrition advice and making your own toiletries!

'The Asian Vegan Kitchen' by Hema Parekh - Traditionally vegan dishes and ingredients from 9 Asian countries.

'Vegan Yum Yum' by Lauren Ulm - Great fancy food for dinner parties and full-on food porn photos!

'The Vegan Slow Cooker' by Kathy Hester - A million delicious dishes to make in a slow cooker, crock pot or casserole when you don't have time to stand in the kitchen

'The Joy of Vegan baking' by Coleen Patrick-Goudreau - the bible of vegan baking, every recipe I've tried has turned out perfectly.

'Great Gluten-Free Vegan Eats' by Allyson Kramer - My food bible since cutting out wheat from my diet.

I have bought a lot of Isa Chandra Moskowitz's books, because everyone always reccomends them, but none of the recipes ever really inspire me. Maybe it's just because there are no pictures!

I think it depends on your goals with vegan cooking/lifestyle. I have Chloe's book as well, however, I only make recipes from it on special occasions. Most of the recipes are so high in fat that I treat them as treats.
If you're looking to do vegan for the heath benefits, I would recommend "Appetite for Reduction" and "Fork over Knives: The Cookbook." All can be found on amazon. Good luck!!
