I'm just wondering if there are any users out there following the Whole30 plan or Paleo lifestyle out there?

I'm loosly following the paleo diet. I get 99% of my recipes from paleo sites, but I will cheat sometimes.lol

My partner and I are thinking of doing a Whole30! He has a serious sugar addiction he wants to kick. I hope he does the Whole30 and if he does, I'll do it with him for moral support! It will be a much bigger change for him, as sugar and grain addicted as he is.

I follow a mostly primal way of eating already, and I find it really helpful. Tracking here on Slimkicker has been super helpful too! I like the sugar tally feature. It reminds me that even the little bit of sugar in my sweet veggies and fruits counts! Through this change and others, I am reversing a lot of inflammation and digestive distress I was experiencing.

I do eat a little bit of honey, maple, and cultured dairy, and the occasional sweet fruit, but the bulk of my diet now is veggies, savory fruits, and healthy eggs and meats. I get as much as I can right from my local farmers.

I have found that grains and legumes and I don't get along, and eliminated them long ago. I was vegan at the time, so I was eating tons of great veggies and fruits. Unfortunately, with only nuts and seeds and sprouts for protein and fats, I was running a little short and very lopsided. I gained weight despite cutting calories. My digestion faltered. Really, really badly.

I reintroduced fish, then eggs, then land animals. To boost digestion and absorption of nutrients, I take a Betaine HCl supplement with meals now in addition to other enzymes and probiotics, and I take vitamin D and either a B-complex or a multi daily. All of those factors have been helping me a lot.

I've lost 5 of the pounds I gained. I think it was mostly inflammation and a little fat, and I am feeling better and better. I know the weight loss will slow down as the water weight and inflammation go away and we start to move onto the fat, and that's okay - I am just glad to be digesting my food well and feeling and looking good again!

On the Whole30 you can't weigh yourself, which will be difficult. But you can try on your skinny jeans and see how they fit better and better!

Nice to meet you both! I did the Whole30 back in November and will be doing it again in January. I follow a mostly Paleo diet though I find it very difficult this time of year with so many parties/restaurants.

I'm excited for January because like you marycat, my husband (who is also incredibly addicted to sugar) is interested in joining me! It's so much easier when you have a partner.

Yay for getting healthy together! My other half joined SlimKicker this afternoon! His tag is egildon and I just saw that he posted about Whole30 over on the Inspiration Feed. Now he's put it in writing, so I know he's committed!
