Cutting out sugar, grains and processed foods has been the smartest thing I've done the last couple weeks. I feel better and less tired. I also eat more. I went from 1200cal tops when I diet to 1500cal. I no longer feel bloated and I lost 8 pounds in 10 days(naturally part water). I also had a cheat day in-between which was more lesson then cheat since I realized how much better I feel eating this way. Just whole natural foods(95%) of the time.

Been Primal/Paleo five days. After being a bloated 137 from bad food choices and not having my wedding dress fit I am back down to 130! Most if not all the bloat is gone and those stomach muscles I was complaining about not being able to see are slowly starting to poke out. I suggest it by far. I'm still learning myself but if you like the idea of eating foods in there natural forms without chemicals this is the way to go.

Okay I have what I consider a very silly but very dire problem. I just had my final fitting for my wedding dress and found out I gained to much back muscle for it to fit quite right. I can't afford more alterations. So how does one... de-muscle?

Interesting factoid about High fructose corn syrup and why not to eat it. "Because your brain does not see any of the fructose in the thousands of HFCS-containing foods as excess calories or as hunger suppressants, your body wants you to keep eating." HFCS does NOT turn off your hunger signals.

One would think getting to the 'ideal' weight in your head could mean some actual relax time. Sigh. I think I'm twice as bad as when I needed to lose weight. I'm so tired of calorie counting most days but I don't know how to maintain without it.

If your not already doing it I suggest making a mini morning routine workout. I love mine. It gets my heart going and my blood pumping and keeps me from crawling back into bed ;) My morning routine is 50 jumping jacks, 1 min 'jog' in place, 20 squats, 10 burpees, 1 min plank, 20 second side plank (each side), and 10 pushups. I divide it in half and do two sets of each. Knowing you've already done something good for your body right off, makes it easier to keep at it the rest of the day.

The pauses of breath is good. You can make it your challenge to get through without stopping and taking breaths! When I started it, the first week I just held the weights and mainly worked on cardio, but you'll do it before too long.

    • img

      Alineko3031 days ago

Jane - You could also try cutting up a piece of fruit into so many pieces. Put it in the fridge and everytime you think you can't go a second more without fruit just have once piece. I do something similar at night when I'm trying not to snack. I wait till I think I HAVE to have something then have a few almonds.

    • img

      Southernbelle20113031 days ago

Eating clean really is the way to go. How are you getting in 1500 calories? I'm only getting in 1200 when I should be getting in 1800 max. And I'm eating a lot. I had a gluten free bagel this morning, I had two kind bars today, I had a salmon patty with the bun for lunch, and tonight I'm doing baked chicken with green beans.

    • img

      Southernbelle20113031 days ago

I've been super careful not to under estimate how much I'm actually eating, and I've been dropping pounds so I know I'm not over eating. I wanna maintain where I am instead of lose more.

    • img

      Alineko3031 days ago

I'll give you a day sample. Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1/2 cup veggies, 1/4c spinach, 2 turkey sausages, 1/2 tbsp. coconut oil. All in one bowl. Dash of creamer in coffee. Morning snack: 1/2 banana, two tbsp. almond butter, 8oz SO delicious coconut milk, dash cinnamon Lunch: Salad greens, Can of tuna in water, 30 grams cucumber, 30 grams zucchini, tbsp. sunflower seeds, 1/2 tbsp. yogurt honey mustard, tbsp. feta. 1 hardboiled egg, 1 small avocado(1.5 to 2oz)

    • img

      Alineko3031 days ago

Afternoon snack: 1oz carrots, 10 almonds, 10 pistachios Dinner: Two cups mixed veggies, 1 tsp coconut spread(like butter), 5oz chicken. Evening I'll probably end up eating at least 10 more almonds and lately a cup of mixed berries. Sometimes a couple tiny pieces of darkdark chocolate. No more than 30 calories worth. So I edge towards 1500.

    • img

      Alineko3031 days ago

I'd suggest looking into more proteins and fats. Put some coconut oil on your green beans for instance. Or almond butter on your bagel. Personally I'm intolerant to baker’s yeast.

I typed a response but it was too long to fit in a sinlge comment, so I split it up; hope you don't mind :) First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! If eating healthy/less is hard because your sole motivation is maintaining your weight (which is kind of a boring goal, and can be a little frustrating because there's always that question of when to worry after a small gain or indulgence), then maybe it's time to find a new source of motivation to eat well.

    • img

      Avovocado3055 days ago

Short-term consequences which you experience immediately. Some examples are not feeling icky, not waking up bloated, feeling energized after a meal instead of stuffed and sleepy, feeling good about yourself for eating only things you need and enjoy, ... You get the idea; you can make your own list. Maybe try to phase out calorie counting until you only do it, say, once or twice a month just to make sure your normal day of food is in a good calorie range.

    • img

      Avovocado3055 days ago

And this one I think is REALLY important: accept (don't fight; accept) the fact that to maintain this weight, there are foods and drinks that you must consume less often; there is no way around that. "I'd like to have a bear claw right now. I know that if I do, I'm going to feel ----." If you will feel good about your choice five minutes, two hours, a day, and a week after, then go fot it. If you aren't sure, don't worry.

    • img

      Avovocado3055 days ago

Because guess what? You can get a bear claw tomorrow, or the day after, or next saturday, or whenever you're sure it will fit into your goals of feeling good about yourself. Or maybe you'll decide to forego the bear claw and instead choose to enjoy your cousin's birthday cake in a few days, totally guilt-free. I hope this helps even if it's just a little :) I can recommend a great book if you're interested.

It seems that everytime I get below a certain weight I get terribly hungry till it goes back up again. Which is frustrating since I'm still trying to lose five pounds. Do you guys think maybe the body can just be happy at a certain weight?

    • img

      Mnemosyne3193 days ago

Absolutely! But the body can also be like a stubborn child that is used to being a certain weight, you're basically trying to train your body to dealing with whatever you throw at it. Try drinking more water or eat water-based veggies when your tummy's telling you to eat something. Sometimes it's just dehydration.

    • img

      GrizzledAtoms3193 days ago

Your body also attempts to tell you what it's missing. The hunger may be more of a tell that you're short on protein or carbs or water or fat or even cholesterol. If you're tracking what you're eating, see if you're falling really short in one of those areas. If you really listen to your cravings, that might be a big hint.

    • img

      Alineko3193 days ago

I drink a ton of water everyday so it's not that. I probably could stand to up my veggies a little and certainly my protein. The problem with protein and me is that I've become an expert at keeping my calories in the 1200 range so I find it hard to incorporate meat without haveing it go higher.

    • img

      blaurebell3193 days ago

Try replacing some of the carbs you eat with protein. For one meal instead of carbs, have only some chicken with veggies. You'll feel full for longer and a high percentage carb intake gives you cravings for even more. +lots more of the B vitamin range. It's much more difficult to overeat on proteins because you wouldn't eat as much meat as you would eat carbs. I'm on a medical low carb diet and I'm struggling to get *above* 1200 (I don't wanna lose weight).

    • img

      Alineko3193 days ago

I'm thinking of doing low carb. I'm intolerant to everything that has to do with carbs anyway. sugar/yeast/wheat. So that's worth a try then. Most of my carbs come from veggies/pumpkin/sweet potatoes anyway. And the rest is the little bit of carb in meats and so on.

    • img

      blaurebell3193 days ago

Ah, I'm intolerant to the same things too. If you're not eating wheat and sugar anyway, maybe check out the specific carbohydrate diet http://breakingtheviciouscycle.info/ or maybe paleo. Shouldn't be too hard for you to transition into.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm happy to level out at whatever weight my body maintains when I eat and exercise as much as is comfortable for me - it depends how hard you want to work compared to how much you really value that little bit of weight loss

    • img

      Alineko3193 days ago

Well when the boyfriend encourages a second helping of frozen yogure. Well... maybe he's telling me something? ;)

    • img

      blaurebell3193 days ago

I think the actual weight is not that important. If you look in the mirror and you're happy that's when it's time to maintain that. Especially since muscles are heavier than fat.
