I need some help from fellow slimkickers. I've been eating lots of veg and whole wheat products and egg whites. But I'm only getting around 200-500 calories a day.. I've done this now for.. well since I joined. I burn off around a thousand a day, plus naturally burn calories in the day (1980 cal for me) so thats a deficit of between 2780 and 2480 a day. I know this is bad, I wanna up my calories, without putting weight on again.. please help :(

I can't tell if your'e a troll or serious. But 600 calories a day is ridiculously low. What does your doctor recommend?

    • img

      Nency3313 days ago

      I am eating 600 calories too... :/

    • img

      GrizzledAtoms3313 days ago

Good to hear that you're on the right road (to good health)! You ARE getting there so stay strong! 600 calories is still low but it's a LOT better than 130! It sounds like you put a pretty good effort into watching what you eat... why not try focusing on finding good sources of protein that are lean... it will keep the calories low but give you some protein. And... thanks for the shout-out but, I'm just trying to figure this fitness thing out like everyone else! ;-D

      JennH2O3313 days ago

From some of your posts I was wondering about hour health. Just keep your health in mind through it all. Honestly, that is a great improvement, 130 to 600 I mean. Take it slow and let your body adjust. Choose healthy, it's the new strong. :) Obviously your body is going to change through this journey, you may not be happy with it but I would rather see you live longer than skinnier.

I usually don't record fruits until the end of the day because the SK system doesn't fairly represent sugars in fruits and berries.

I'd recommend watching Fat Head. You can change the type of calories that your body is used to burning, and introduce foods with more substance. But in all honesty, you should probably also consult a nutritionist for help. 500 cal/day is not good for you, and you're probably putting your body into starvation mode (i.e. "hold onto every ounce of fat it can" mode).

    • img

      Dalbuc3364 days ago

Peanut butter has a ton of calories per tbs and a lot of protein. I use it to "fill in" if I eat really lightly so I don't get too little.

    • img

      slothrangler3364 days ago

I would certainly consult a nutritionist and perhaps a doctor - that kind of calorie intake is not healthy at all and it will ruin your metabolism, as well, which completely defeats the purpose. You may need to go back to a full calorie diet and then loose weight in a healthy way (which will take time) - but I'd go in immediately to the doctor to check that you haven't done too much damage to yourself, and then they can tell you much better than any of us could what you should do next.

    • img

      GrizzledAtoms3364 days ago

Hahaha, ecto has a point with "Fat Head". Good documentary. Anywho, eat some lean meats like chicken. Fish is really good as are nuts and beans. You gotta have a balance of protein, carbs, fat and, yes, even cholesterol. If you're doing enough exercise to burn 1,000 calories you HAVE to have protein and fat along with those veggies and fruit!

    • img

      JennH2O3364 days ago

Everyone has already said what I was going to say. The only other thing I could think of is -are you sure you are logging quantities accordingly? If I eat enough to really fill up I usually get at least 1200 cal in a day.

    • img

      AllySavage3364 days ago

I am logging quantities and over estimating sometimes just to be sure. I eat well enough, I eat alot of veg and salad with no dressing or sauces, I eat alot of flaseeds for protein etc... it just only adds up to very little a day. I don't want to put on weight again. I just wanna up my cals slowly. Thank you guys :) x

    • img

      LCSlimKick3364 days ago

Try adding olive oil, avocados, and nuts to your veggies and salads. All have the type of fat that is good for you - your body needs it! I just read an article about how you need to eat this type of fat in order for your body to burn old fat. Also, with eating such few calories, your body is probably in starvation mode, bringing your metabolism way down. As mentioned above, please be careful and talk to a doctor or nutritionist! Your health needs to come first. Take care!
