Well done. You can use tea still, just try a health tea like a green tea. Not in a tin, but one you brew. It is full of anti-oxidants and also helps speed up the metabolism. Some are also really yummy.

I changed mine to 50, keeping in the back of my mind that I will never let more than 24 of that come from added sugars.

    • img

      Southernbelle20113182 days ago

I have mine on 28. I am a sugar hound so I need the discipline.

    • img

      JulieD3182 days ago

Same with me. I had a banana and I'm more than halfway past my daily allowance. I think I'll adjust it to 50.

      RobinsonMomof43182 days ago

      Thanks for the input ladies!

    • img

      TeresaM3182 days ago

It's actually better if you don't adjust the sugar, if you're trying to lose weight. There is a lot of sugar in healthy foods like fruit, so you do have to limit consumption of them a bit. Some things you may consider healthy are actually not so much, like milk, yogurt or other high-sugar dairy products. Consider switching those out with almond milk, greek yogurt etc and you'll have a way easier time of meeting your goals.

I'm a stress non-eater and non-sleeper. Which is not really better, I find I don't lose weight then either although it feels like I should be. Maybe not enough water either.

    • img

      RobinsonMomof43182 days ago

Yeah, probably the lack of sleep is affecting your metabolism so you're not loosing weight. I'm definitely a stress-eater. For example when my kids are particularly bouncing off the walls, I reach for the chips or cookies to chill me out so I don't blow up at them. LOL!

    • img

      rhearex3182 days ago

Not a stress eater but i used to snack when i was bored, until i started using slimkicker and realized how much rubbish i was eating because i could track all the calories etc for each snack... Soon stopped...

    • img

      RobinsonMomof43182 days ago

I think using slimkicker to keep track of calories, carbs, sugars, etc consumed helps to stay accountable. :)

    • img

      Clint013182 days ago

Instead of snacking on crisps and chocolates etc, try snacking on some berries or nuts or even prepare a boiled egg etc. that way when you want to snack, its a protein filled health snack and not any carbs! Carbs just get stored as fat when you dont burn them up. Carbs are also a quick energy source and will make you feel tired within no time after consuming them if not used up by the body.

    • img

If you really must have chocolate, you can buy pure dutch baking cocoa and make your own hot chocolate. Just use something like Stevia to sweeten it and use a non-sugary milk substitute like plain soy milk.

    • img

      Ms.Understood3464 days ago

Emerald's nuts has a cocoa roast almond. You'll get a sugar fix and some protein.

    • img

      aliciaspinnet3464 days ago

Something to consider: The more consecutive days you go without eating sweets after dinner the easier it will be to go without. Right now your body expects it, and then craves it when you don't eat it, but the cravings lessen day by day and eventually will go away. If you don't want this habit to continue, you have to fight it. Best of luck!

    • img

      RobinsonMomof43464 days ago

Thanks for the help and advice everyone! Very much appreciated!

    • img

      Lmola3464 days ago

If you like it, try adding some fruit to your dinner plate. It always sounds weird having fruit next to your savory meal but sometimes that little bit of natural sweetness can curb your craving enough to get past it.

    • img

      mrsgorgon3464 days ago

If you must have chocolate (and sometimes I do), use the darkest chocolate you can find and only eat one square....something like 20 calories. The intensity of the cocoa should curb the urge for more.

I am a mummy of 4 as well. Log that food in regardless. i thought I screwed up the other day and it really wasn't that bad. If you have a few lights weights and buy a video or two that could help you get a kickstart too. Get the ones that don't go longer than 30 minutes if your littles are little like mine. I find I can usually convince them to go play for that 30minutes so they are not underfoot.

    • img

      EmpressPixie3479 days ago

One day off won't be so bad. I find that a day of guilt-free eating often kind of resets my metabolism in a good way. You might also be interested in You Are Your Own Gym or Convict Conditioning -- both of them are workouts that focus on using your own bodyweight to workout, no equipment necessary. I'm the wimpiest of wimps, but I really like convict conditioning. The Nike Women's app also has great, equipment free exercises.

i would love to have a home gym! i have 3 kids, all 4 and under so i know how you feel. i live in an apartment complex with a gym right across the parking lot but i just can't get to it! by the time i give baths cook dinner and my husband gets home from work its bedtime. :( at one point (before christmas came and i slacked off) i lost 14 pounds with wii fit/ea active. maybe you could try that? :)

    • img

      danajarry3479 days ago

Log it and don't beat yourself up. It's important to remember when you've struggled. It will only help you next time. If you don't log it, you might find excuses to not log in the future which could totally take you off track... It's ok to fall off for a day or two - just get back on!

I refuse to weigh myself two weeks of the month... water retention is decreased with no grains, but still an issue for me. Don't get discouraged.

    • img

      GrizzledAtoms3481 days ago

Actually, unlike everyone else, I weigh myself every day. It was eye opening as to how much my weight can vary day to day! But... knowing that keeps me from going crazy. The important thing is, how do you feel? Do you feel healthier, better, stronger? How are your clothes fitting, etc.? The scale keeps me honest but whether I can fit into climbing pants I wore 7 years ago is what encourages me.

if you enjoy dancing ... turn on some music and dance while you do housework or while your cooking or when you play with your kids ... my favorite thing to do with my son when he was baby was to dance around the house

    • img

      kaiazoo3482 days ago

i find that bicycle crunches (cross-body crunches, done quickly in alternation), timed in a circuit training routine, is a good cardio exercise that is more intense than running without requiring the outdoor mileage or a treadmill. i take 5 minute breaks throughout my day, when i need to refresh my brain from working/thinking, and i just do an intense set of bicycle crunches. it works all your muscles at once, and is great cardio.

    • img

      smileee23482 days ago

Dancing was already mentioned and I second that one - 20 minutes of good music, dance, and you can even get your toddler dancing around with you. Also, running up and down the stairs is good if you got' em. Jumping jacks and push-ups are both GREAT core exercises to get your blood pumping :)

Third for Chobani. I like the pineapple, personally. Also, check out the Chobani Champions. They're supposed to be for kids, so they're smaller in serving than the standard size (less calories, fat, sugar, etc.) but still pretty filling.

"Stoneyfield" brand is pretty great also.

    • img

      PamRL3483 days ago

Stoneyfield is a real treat, but expensive for me. I found that adding a tsp of olive oil to a serving of low fat Dannon makes it more satisfying to me, and the fat is better for me. Have you ever drained your yogurt? This makes it thick like Greek yogurt, but is much less expensive. I prefer Stevia as a sweetener and use Pure Stevia Extract (KAL brand) to sweeten tea and fruit and vegetables like squash.

    • img

      RobinsonMomof43483 days ago

Thanks guys and gals. I'll get some Chobani. Swaag I have seen Stoneyfiled before too sweetened with stevia but after I bought it the first time, it wasn't carried anymore. Pam, I've never drained my yogurt but I too use stevia as a sweetener when I need one. ;)

someone said they are listed as air squats. I think foods can be added retroactively, maybe exercise can, too- I didn't add my squats, either. There's a feedback forum for administrators where this can be addressed if it can't be added belatedly.
