Well I'm feeling very unmotivated today. I have a few excuses as to why I failed to complete week #2 of the 100 pushups, but in the end they are just excuses. I missed it by 6 because I wasn't strong enough :( I'm trying to keep as positive as possible since I'll need to redo week 2 again next week, but it is hard to find the motivation. 75 completed, needed 81.

Interesting. Concentrating on all of this healthy stuff again, has started my creative juices flowing and I actually started to put pen to paper (well fingers to keys, keys to electronic signals) and actually started writing that book that I've been planning for so long. Feels weird and scary, but good.

Woohooo! Level 2! I have started the "Hundred Pushups" plan again today, and by goal is to make it past week 4 this time around. For anyone interested it is a 6 week plan with a goal to get you to the point where you can do 100 pushups at a time. The website is http://hundredpushups.com/, and they have a PlayBook app which also includes a rest timer and logging. Wish me luck!

I caved a bit yesterday. I took my dog to the beach and stopped for some fish and chips on the way back. I knew I could afford the calories, but I ended up drinking some coke as well. So much for the "no soda challenge" I didn't drink the entire thing, about 1/3 of the bottle, and I resisted getting ice cream for myself when I got some for my dog. The guilt is flaring full blast today. But hey, I lost another pound so I feel safe moving back to monitoring my weight once a week again.

Well, after gaining 3 lbs the day before, I lost 5 lbs yesterday... I am guessing that it was all water weight, but at least I'm feeling a bit more motivated today. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement yesterday, it really did help as I was having a very rough time sticking to it yesterday.

Totally not inspired today. Over the past year and a half I was able to lose 30 lbs, and for the past 6+ months was maintaining my weight at 180-183. In the past 4 weeks I've gained 10 pounds back. For the past 3 days I've cut out all snacks, including my daily can of Coke and chocolate bar. I'm watching everything I eat, counting every calorie, started doing pushups and walking more, and managed to put on almost 3 pounds yesterday. Not a good day.

I think you are looking at the 1/2 empty cup of water rather than the 1/2 full. Spend a little time connecting with the progress that you made! You are so much ahead of if you didn't take the challenge at all. Maybe it will take you an extra week to build up the strength, but you will get there and you are getting stronger each day that you work on it! Hang in there!

      GrizzledAtoms3239 days ago

'freespirit' said it well! It's good to be disappointed that you didn't reach your goal but you should be motivated by the fact that you did as many as you did! I know a LOT of people who can't even do 2 pushups!

    • img

      LazyGirl3239 days ago

Oh! You DID 75 pushups! 75! In one go, that's more than I've done in my life! You missed your goal by the tiniest margin, which means you'll definitely get it next time. Now, stop beating yourself up & drop & give me 20! No actually, chill out & think what your reward's going to be when you've done the 100 cause you WILL do it, because you're actually superman, you just don't know it yet! =] Hugs! Tough love.

I put temporary website on your other 'thread'- but it's an urban fantasy fiction novel- based on sum facts, intertwined beautifully with the fiction stories from my Native American tribe. (stuff I grew up to, urban legends- basically) - what type of novel are you writing? ;) and congrats again!

I completed day 3 today, without a whole lot of issue, total of 60, but in 5 small sets. The end goal is after 6 weeks to be able to do a full 100 in a set, but we'll see :) I'm looking forward to getting to know you as well :)

That's really good going well done!!! =] I'm hopeless at push ups, but I've just talked my brother into taking up Tennis with me, just need to get some bats and we're away! I'm trying to start with all the things I like doing, or used to like, as I think that'll help keep me on track, if I set the task of going for a run in the morning, there's no way in hell I'd actually stick to it!!! =]

    • img

      SecretSauce3246 days ago

Yeah I know the feeling, I really didn't feel like doing the pushups this morning, but I forced myself to, and got through it. I had a grand plan to go for a bike ride each morning too, but I already get up at 6, and after I've taken the dog out, and come back in and such, I couldn't imagine getting up at 5:30 and biking through my hilly neighbourhood. Its much better with a partner in crime :)

    • img

      LazyGirl3246 days ago

Yep, today I felt so tired & drab, I'd have quite happily sat on my xbox shooting random strangers, luckily my brother came & grabbed me for a walk. Some days I just have no motivation or self control, I'm useless lol I'm fine once I get going, I just have to have someone give me that kick up the butt to get me started =] I think you should have a medal for getting up at 6. I'm sooo not a morning person, it's bad enough getting up for work lol

so it all evened out! :) you're doing better than me, because i went out drinking this weekend and put on 2 pounds and it took me until today to lose the 2 pounds again. :( it's always back and forth we just can't give up. congrats on sticking to it, i know how tempting it can be to just give up sometimes.

Thanks Erin! I know that if I can get back to the 180 range then I can maintain it as I did for months before. Its amazing how quickly the pounds can add up isn't it? And congrats on getting back down again! Its the small amounts that seem to be the big struggle isn't it.

    • img

      beachbum1333254 days ago

Weight yourself at specific intervals and have a weight limit. For example, weight in once a month with a limit of 5 lbs. if you reach this limit, kick it u a notch until you lose it. Good way to stay accountable.

Have you had a physical lately? Some health problems cause weight gain. Keep your chin up and don't let it get you down into a spiral. (sometimes if i am over doing it the stress on my body causes inflammation, once I incorporate rest in my routine I start dropping pounds slowly.)

    • img

      SecretSauce3255 days ago

Thanks Jenn :) I haven't had a physical in awhile, but I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago and ate badly, so I'm not surprised that I gained some weight, but was surprised at how much. Then I was able to lose a little bit a day ago, but alas the 3 pound gain yesterday threw me for a loop.

    • img

      Brea3255 days ago

Sometimes the scale never makes sense. Hang in there! You've probably just shocked your body with your diet changes. Keep up the healthy eating and activity. You'll get there. Whenever I add more activity, I gain a couple pounds and then the following week I have a bigger loss.

    • img

      SecretSauce3255 days ago

Thanks Brea :) I've never tried to do this via one of these more social type websites, so having the words of encouragement from others really does help. Much appreciated :)

    • img

      cheski3255 days ago

Yeah man, I plateau at certain levels sometimes. It seems like weeks before the scale starts moving again. It can be very demotivating. Do you have a FitBit or anything like it? Try finding motivation on items other than that number the scale shows you. I personally really like the feeling that I hit my "steps in a day" goal all week. Just a thought to maybe help you out. Good luck!

    • img

      SecretSauce3255 days ago

Thanks Cheski. It was just an extra hard hit after having so many cravings yesterday and being "good" all day.

    • img

      SDPogue3255 days ago

Two things - when are you weighing yourself? The most accurate time to weigh yourself is first thing in the morning after you have used the toilet but before you eat or drink anything. The rest of the time your weight will fluxuate horribly. The other thing - if it's hot where you are you could be retaining water. Try just drinking water to help flush some of that excess out and see if that helps (if it is hot - watch the caffiene consumption because it will cause dehydration).

    • img

      JennH2O3255 days ago

Was just going to post exactly what SDPogue said. Also, you should not weight yourself every day. Plan once a week, same time and go with it. I can vary 5# day to day, and that's just depressing to see. I do my weigh in Friday mornings - before the weekend. :)
