So... I hit my goal weight today: 188 to 175 in 5 weeks. I was too thin at 168 and too heavy at 188; I think mid 170s is good (about 10% body fat). Now, the interesting part: SK thinks I'll lose weight staying under 1,800 calories a day, but I think I'll level off in a few more pounds staying around 1,000 calories a day. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

:: To those of you just starting: Good Luck! It probably won't be easy, but what worthwhile thing really is? Log your food faithfully, make adjustments to your diet and habits as you go, stick with it and grind it out; you'll get there!

congratulations!!! also, i think whenever you want to maintain, you could probably edit "current weight" and "goal weight" on slimkicker to be the same, and it might give you a guess of how main calories that takes. not quite sure, though, since I still need to lose! thank you for the inspiration!!!

Way to go! Remember that SK doesn't know your body like you do. The caloric intake is an estimate at best. I would say, though, that if you're active at all and with the weight your at, 1000 calories sounds a little light. I would have put it closer to 1500 or more.

Well, I did say *around* 1,000! Most days I'm under 1,200, once in a while under 1,000, once a week I probably hit 1,400-1,600. Of course, that's over the last month when I've been actively trying to lose some weight. We'll see what happens now that I've hit my initial goal; especially since the weather just warmed up for serious running!

@GrantHenninger Hi Grant. Groups are pretty broken, so I'm having trouble adding you in to the CS group. I'll keep trying and hopefully they'll get it eventually...

Good to know. The site seems to be trying to do too much all at once. However, it does give me some goals to aim at for my eating. Clearly I'm eating too much sugar and carbs.

I don't concentrate too much on its exact recommendations; I just try to keep my calories under 1,200 a day.
