      It should if you want to lose weight, but keep in mind you will burn around 1600 calories per day (as an average-sized woman) just from existing and maintaining your body, so those need to be added too.

      you do want to create a calorie deficit to lose weight. The number you need just to function is different for each person. Here is a good calculator that can give you the information you need. ~~~~ http://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/calories.htm

      Say you need 1500 calories to maintain your weight but you want to lose 1lb a week. You need a 500 calorie deficit each day to do so. You can either burn 500 calories a day or eat 500 calories less a day or a combination of both to reach that deficit. If you burned 1500 calories & need 1500 to live, you are at a net of zero & that can cause health issues, mess up your metabolism, & cause your body to start burning muscle so your metabolism goes down even more due to decreased muscle mass.
